*CLOSED* Borders $100 Gift Card Giveaway

by Heather on June 24, 2010 9:34 am

Borders wants your kids to join the Double-Dog Dare Summer Reading Challenge to encourage reading over the summer.  And thanks to Borders sponsorship, I’m giving away a $100 Borders Gift Card to one lucky reader!

Double-Dog Dare Summer Reading Challenge

I dare you to encourage your kids (ages 12 and under) to read 10 books!  If they do they will receive a free book!  This summer reading program starts May 4 and ends August 26.  Just download the form, read 10 books, then take the completed form to Borders for your kids to pick out one of these 10 books as your free book.

Reading Tip

Thanks to Jon Scieszka, author of Robot Zot and Knucklehead: Tall Tales and Almost True Stories of Growing up Scieszka

“If you want to inspire your boy reader, expand your definition of reading to include non-fiction, graphic novels, funny books, wordless books, audio books and magazines. Summer reading is a great time to explore texts that aren’t covered/allowed in school reading.”

I feel like I own my own miniature Borders at home….I’ve got so many books! But, since this is our first child, I know I’d use the gift card to get books on parenting, sign language for babies and books for the baby as well.

  • Mary Murchie

I would spend my gift card on a few books for me (the Elm Creek Quilt Series). Someone seems to have lost them and they are the last books in the series that my mom gave me. (If, after purchasing all of my other choices, I might even buy myself a new knitting book, or the patterns called A Box of Scraves.) Then I would get my husband a few books for the summer and finally my 3 daughters (agess 12, 5 and 3 1/2) some new books to enjoy. We love to read here and that would be so much fun to win a gift card to Borders!! Thanks for the chance.

  • Christy

My 3 year old LOVES to be read to and he really enjoys making up his own stories to go along with photos in his books…he’d definitely get some more books for his shelf!

I love love love to read, so I’d be tempted to use the whole card on me. But since I love to read so much, I’d have to take the kids with and let them pick out a few books because it is so fun to see them get excited about books! So we’d get some Weird School Daze, Strawberry Shortcake and Spiderman books for the kids and then I’d tackle my wish list and pick up books by JR Ward, Karen Chance, and the three Chicagoland Vampire books.

  • Lisa Peters

I’m a licensed therapist and I would purchase some books to use with the kids I see in my office.

  • Cecilia

I would use the gift card to buy books for my son. He is turning 1 year old in 2 weeks!

I would spend the $100 on a nice assortment of summer reading for my kids, my husband and myself.

My son and I are avid readers. This would help with all the book sets he is reading in his accelerated reader program. Thanks!

  • Jean

I am a devoted library user so if you can buy gift cards with gift cards, I’d probably buy smaller Borders gift cards to give to my children’s teachers and caregivers.
