Facebook Tip: Get Your Newsfeed Back

by Heather on February 12, 2011 6:00 am

Facebook is filtering your Newsfeed for you, and you probably didn’t even know it (but you might like your old Newsfeed back)! This might be the reason some of my fans are suddenly missing their Freebies 4 Mom Facebook updates. The default setting is to only show the “Friends and pages you interact with most” and maybe you like that setting. I don’t know how they measure “most”. But I want to see everyone I’m friends with plus all the pages I’ve “Liked” (and maybe you do too).

I wanted to share how to fix it so that you will see ALL of your friends and ALL of the pages you “Like” in your Newsfeed.  Thanks goes to Rose Knows Coupons and MoJo Savings for making me aware of the fix to this Facebook change. Here’s my step-by-step guide (because it’s not an obvious settings change until you do it):

1. Go to your Facebook Home Page (get to it from anywhere in Facebook by looking at the menu at the top right side)

2. Click on Most Recent (at the top right of your Newsfeed) to get a pull-down menu

3. Click on Edit Options (last in the pull-down menu)

4. Click on Friends and pages you interact with most to get a pull-down menu with the other option

5. Click on All of your friends and pages if you want to see everyone on your wall and not let Facebook filter it for you. You will still have the option to “Hide” specific friends or fan pages.

6. Select the Save button to save your new settings

forgot my password and there seems to be no option to retrieve it. Can you help me?

  • Anonymous

This comes directly from the Facebook Help section:
“You can reset your password by clicking
    here.
When choosing a new password, be sure to use a different password than you
use for other sites or services, made up of a complex string of numbers,
letters, and punctuation marks that is at least six characters in length. Do
not use words found in the dictionary.”
