Penguin Young Readers
has offered a giveaway of the books Foundling and Lamplighter by D.M Cornish. These books are targeted to the teen audience, and are part of the Monster Blood Tattoo trilogy. I’m giving away the first two books in the trilogy to three of my lucky readers. These are paperback advanced reader copies.

Here’s more information about these books directly from Penguin:

D.M. Cornish’s epic adventures, Foundling and Lamplighter, come to life in a magic-laced adventure that immerses readers in an entirely original fantasy world.

Foundling Synopsis:
Set in the world of the Half-Continent-a land of tri-corner hats and flintlock pistols-the Monster Blood Tattoo trilogy is a world of predatory monsters, chemical potions and surgically altered people. Foundling begins the journey of Rossamund, a boy with a girl’s name, who is just about to begin a dangerous life in the service of the Emperor. What starts as a simple journey is threatened by encounters with monsters-and people, who may be worse. Learning who to trust and who to fear is neither easy nor without its perils, and Rossamund must choose his path carefully.

Complete with appendices, maps, illustrations, and a glossary, Monster Blood Tattoo grabs readers from the first sentence and immerses them in an entirely original fantasy world with its own language and lore.

Lamplighter Synopsis:
Rossamund Bookchild is finally becoming a lamplighter. Sworn into the Emperors service, his duty is to light the lamps along the Emperor’s highways, and protect all travellers from the ferocious bogles that live in the wild. But he’s found it no easier to fit in with the lamplighters than he ever has – always too small and too meek, his loneliness continues no matter how hard he tries to succeed. But when a haughty young girl, a member of a suspiciously-regarded society of all women teratologists is forced upon the lamplighters for training, Rossamund might no longer be the most despised soul around.
