5 Ways To Save More Money at Kroger

by Freebies4Mom on April 5, 2017 9:52 am

This post is sponsored by U.S. Bank and Kroger. All opinions are my own.

5 Ways To Save More Money at Kroger

Kroger is my favorite grocery store to shop at and I shop there every week so I wanted to share with you some of my tips for saving more money at Kroger!

Tip #1 – Apply for a Kroger REWARDS Visa

Having a Kroger REWARDS Visa is the best way to help you save more money at Kroger. That’s because when you use your Kroger REWARDS Visa you earn free groceries and an extra discount on fuel at Kroger Family of Stores fuel centers. You earn free groceries with rewards checks that are mailed automatically from Kroger four times a year. The amount of your check will depend on how many points you earn ($5 for every 1,000 points). Here’s how you earn points by shopping with your Kroger REWARDS Visa:

  • 1 point for every qualifying net $1 you spend everywhere Visa® is accepted
  • 2 points for every qualifying net $1 you spend at Kroger
  • 3 points for every qualifying net $1 you spend on Kroger Family of Brands products (i.e. Kroger brand, Simple Truth, Private Selection, PSST)

During your first year of being a Kroger REWARDS Visa holder , you get an extra discount on fuel of an additional 25 cents off per gallon of fuel each time you redeem 100 Fuel Points. The more you visit the fuel pump, the more money you save!*

Tip #2 – Buy Kroger Brands

I buy Kroger brands whenever possible because they cost less and are still high-quality products. There are several different Kroger brands including:  Kroger brand, Simple Truth, Private Selection and PSST. I love the new Simple Truth brand and I shared a recipe with you for a Simple Truth Power Salad. I invite you to take another look at the Kroger brands when you shop and compare the prices with some of the national brands. You’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Tip #3 – Shop Clearance First and Watch For Manager’s Specials

When I walk into Kroger, I always head to the Clearance section first (at my store it’s by the Seasonal area). That’s where I find tons of really good deals, sometimes as much as 90% off the original price! I also look for the yellow and orange “Manager’s Special” stickers throughout the store. They often appear with the products on the shelf are changing and they need to clearance out the old products.

Tip #4 – Load Kroger Digital Coupons

There are hundreds of digital Kroger Coupons you can load to your Kroger Plus Card and they are the easiest type of coupon to use because it’s impossible to forget to use them! The only thing you have to remember is to scan your Kroger Plus Card at the register (and the cashiers always remind you).

Tip #5 – Rack Up Your Fuel Points

When I fuel up my car, I’m usually at a Kroger Fuel Station because by using my Kroger Plus Shopper’s Card I always get the lowest price on fuel. I try to buy all of my gift cards at Kroger because they often have special savings events where you can earn 4X Fuel Points when you buy gift cards. You can also rack up Fuel Points by using your Kroger REWARDS Visa on your Kroger purchases and other purchases.
