🍳Tuscan Sausage One-Skillet Meal Recipe
There’s nothing better than a one-skillet meal I can throw together during the week that the entire family loves! I cooked up something new using hearty ingredients like Hillshire Farm® Beef Smoked Sausage that I bought at Target.
I shopped at Target for Hillshire Farm® Beef Smoked Sausage in the refrigerated meat section so I could prepare a delicious weeknight meal. I hate to do dishes so one-skillet meals are right up my alley! The sausage has a wonderful smoky flavor that makes this skillet meal a favorite for both kids and adults.
My recipe is unique because instead of using sauce, it uses the water from the vegetables (tomatoes and onions) with seasonings (garlic, basil, oregano, balsamic vinaigrette and honey). It’s flavorful without being coated with sauce! The beauty of the skillet meal is that you can customize the ingredients for your family’s personal tastes. Sometimes kids can be picky eaters so it’s better to simple cut down the number of ingredients for them. Next time I make this recipe I’d love to spice it up a little by adding jalapenos! Hillshire Farm® Tuscan Sausage One-Skillet Meal
Ingredients:
12 oz. Hillshire Farm® Beef Smoked Sausage (sliced)
1 small yellow onion (diced)
8 oz. mushrooms (sliced)
5 small vine-ripened tomatoes (diced)
2 Tablespoons minced garlic
1 can (15 oz.) cannelini beans (drained & rinsed)
2 cups white rice (prepared)
3 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Tablespoon honey
1 Tablespoon balsamic vinaigrette
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
salt & pepper
1/2 cup pitted ripe black olives
Directions:
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sliced sausage until browned then set aside
2. Add olive oil to skillet then saute the onions. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
3. Add the sliced mushrooms and tomatoes to the skillet and saute
4. Add the garlic, cannelini beans and white rice to the skillet
5. Add the cooked sausage back to the skillet and then add in the seasonings: honey, balsamic vinaigrette, oregano and basil.
6. Lastly, garnish with black olives and serve
The black olives make a lovely and tasty garnish for this meal. After feeding my family of four, I was thrilled that I had enough leftovers to save three more meals in the fridge. I picked chicken as an ingredient and got the Chicken Scampi Bites recipe to try. I used I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® in Olive Oil for my recipe and the result was simply delicious! I make chicken all the time, but don’t usually make anything with bite-sized chicken so this was a nice change for dinner. The scampi sauce is tasty and made with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!®, garlic, lemon and parsley. It really does taste like I used real butter in my recipe. I love the new simple recipe for I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® and of course I love that it has less fat and calories than real butter. Go ahead and drag an ingredient to the yellow tub and see what you’ll be inspired to make for a meal!
