Talk about perfect timing for any new toys that need batteries! Get them for FREE! Print a coupon to Save $1 on Rayovac batteries. I “bought” my free batteries at Target where you’ll find 4-packs of AAA and AA in the “Dollar Spot” priced at $1.00. I hear that you could also take this coupon to Walmart (if your Walmart is coupon-friendly). This is a great coupon that doesn’t expire until February 28, 2009 so I wanted to be sure to highlight it again. Thanks goes to Centsible Savings for the heads up on this coupon.
Update: Oops! Even I make mistakes and I picked-up the “Heavy Duty” variety instead of the “Alkaline”. The coupon still scanned, but I will look more carefully at the packaging if I visit Target again. I’ve removed my photo to avoid confusion. Thanks so much to my astute readers for pointing this out. I think you can still find these “Alkaline” batteries on-sale or priced at $1.00 at some stores.
When a great coupon like this is made available by the manufacturer and can be printed as many times as you want, I only print and use one for each store visit I make. It’s just my approach to using coupons, and it helps me use my coupons successfully since some stores do impose limits on how many identical coupons you can use.

I thought I had printed my Rayovac coupons before they got changed. But at Target last night I saw my coupons were for the 4 pack and Target only had the 2 pack for $1. Dang, I was hoping for some free batteries! But even without the coupon that’s a good price for batteries.
Heather,FYI, I won a “Free Birdseye bag of Steamfresh meals for two”. Birdseye mailed me the coupon, but Winco would not accept it eventhough the back had the “Veri-FI” protected coupon on the back.I spoke to customer service and to the manager, and they both refused.I e-mailed the company to see what they could do about it.
Christina,I wondered how long they might keep that coupon up! Heather,I think it’s interesting that you mentioned limiting your use of PDF coupons. I do the same thing. Even though it wouldn’t necessarily be wrong to use 10 of them on the same trip, I think it’s best not to so as not to arouse suspicion. I’d rather do all I can to help my stores stay coupon friendly!
Response to Question #5 – That’s a difficult question to answer becuase some manufacturer’s coupons are for a specific store only. And some manufacturer’s coupons that have the name of a store printed on them, can indeed be used at any store. You have to read the fine print, look at the address that the coupon gets mailed to for redemption. One tip that may not always hold true is that if the store logo is on the edge of the coupon (i.e. it could easily be cut off) then it could be used at any store. I get a lot of Kroger coupons that are manufacturer’s coupons that come in a Kroger mailer. They can be used at any store, but of course the mailer is an ad for Kroger so there is a little Kroger symbol at the bottom of each coupon. I just cut them off and they scan just fine at other stores. At some stores if the coupon doesn’t scan, they won’t accept it. My guess is that the Tylenol coupon you tried to use was intended only for use at CVS. But remember that many stores honor the coupons their competitors pass out.-HeatherFreebies 4 Mom
Hey, I have a quick question. If a coupon says “manufacturer’s coupon”, does that mean it can be redeemed at any store that takes coupons? Even if it mentions another store elsewhere on the coupon? I had a coupon for Tylenol PM that said “manufacturer’s coupon” at the top, but had “CVS Pharmacy” in big letters, and I had trouble getting Target to take it yesterday. It actually wasn’t ringing up properly in their system, like they would scan it, and the computer acted like they were scanning a purchase, rather than taking a discount, so I don’t know. They finally just gave me the $2 off anyway.
This was actually a great deal earlier this week…. Rayovac caught on and changed the coupon on their website! Earlier this week, the coupon said $1 off ANY alkaline battery… so I was able to get 10 packs of 2 (20 batteries total) of AA and AAA batteries. Then I posted about it, and someone questioned how I was able to work the deal because they said the coupon specified 4 packs, and the 4-packs at Target aren’t alkaline. I checked the site, and sure enough, the coupon had been changed. Wish I’d saved the original PDF! Still $1 off a 4-pack is a good deal, and Rayovacs are usually a good price anyway.
Yes, the coupon states Alkaline and the AA are in a 2 pack. I purchased some this week.
Be careful using these coupons, though. The coupon states that it is for Alkaline batteries and those pictured are heavy duty—-totally different and usually cheaper as heavy duty don’t last nearly as long as the alkaline ones. Still a nice coupon for this time of year. I know I still have a LOT of batteries to buy.
Also, for those that have Ingles grocery stores in their area, they frequently offer Rayovac batteries for $.98 a pack!!!!
