I wanted to share with you what I got for free today at Kroger. I divided my freebies into categories to help you learn how you can get a few freebies at your grocery store. Please note that I shop at Kroger in Houston, the sales start on Thursday, and my store doubles & triples coupons. Check your local Kroger ad here.

The Grocery Gathering is my favorite resource for weekly Kroger deals because they link to the deals for three different regions. Money Saving Mom is my favorite resource for great coupons and some hot deals at Kroger.

Sale + Coupon
Oral-B Indicator Floss FREE (on sale for $1 (regular price $2.79), use $1 coupon from 6/1 P&G; insert, thanks Money Saving Mom for this Walmart deal -it’s a Kroger deal too!)

Try It Free
Sometimes you just get a great coupon that allows you to try something for free. Often you will see “Buy X and get Y FREE”. I consider these freebies only if “X” is something I am normally buying regardless of the coupon. This happened this week because I had Kraft Macaroni & Cheese on my list. Well, if I bought three of them at 79 cents each, I would get to use my Save $3 on Planters printable coupon (thanks, Kari). So I picked up a 12 oz. package of Planters Cocktail Peanuts for $2.89. After considering my coupon overage, I really only paid for two Mac & Cheese boxes and got the peanuts and one box for free.

Or you just get a great coupon:
Muir Glen Tomato Paste FREE (on sale for $0.79, use $1 coupon on purple Quick Print box or on Coupons.com, this was a deal I knew to look for after seeing this product priced under $1 at HEB)

Pasta Roni Nature’s Way FREE (regular price $1, use $0.50 coupon (doubles) on SmartSource, thanks My Two Cents)

Excedrin Migraine 24 ct. FREE (on sale for $1.99 (regular price $4.19), use the $2 printable here, thanks My Two Cents)

Excedrin Extra Strength 10 ct. FREE (on sale $1 (regular price $1.99), use the $1 coupon from 5/4 SmartSource insert)

Land O’Frost Taste Escapes FREE (this great printable coupon was accessible in the sweeps, but alas they are no longer offering it when you enter)

Register Error
I noticed that the cashier scanned the Kroger grahams and they rang up full-price. I pointed out to him the marked down sticker that said $0.49 and he simply took the full-price off and did not ring up the $0.49 price so I got them for FREE. Could this be an example of Kroger’s policy that My Two Cents told me about?

Cashier Omitting
Sometimes your cashier will not ring up an item. It’s not like those three strawberry applesauce cups marked down for 10 cents each were hiding in my cart, my cashier simply choose not to scan them (well, they weren’t scannable because they were missing their outer cardboard packaging with scan bar) and did not enter a price for them. I didn’t realize this until after I got home and studied my receipt closely.

Coupon Overage
I never expect to get any coupon overage, but it often happens. This is fine with me, and fine with the store (the store should get fully reimbursed for all legitimate coupons used). Here are a few items that my coupon overage of $1.68 allowed me to sneak into my freebie photo today.
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese $0.79 (bought so I could use the $3 Planter’s coupon here, thanks Kari)
Betty Crocker Suddenly Pasta Salad $0.20 (after printable 40 cent coupon (doubled) here, thanks My Two Cents)
Wacky Mac $0.49 (after $0.50 coupon (doubled) from 5/18 Red Plum insert)

Satisfaction Guarantee
Sometimes companies offer a “satisfaction guarantee” to encourage you to try a new product with the promise that a refund will be easy to request if you are not satisfied with the product for any reason. So, I’m trying Tetley Iced Tea today, here’s the satisfaction guarantee. It is possible that I can request a full refund if I am not satisfied with this product.

Kroger has eCoupons available to load onto your Kroger Plus Card. I’ll be updating you as these coupons change and good deals emerge. You can also access printable coupons that are offered by Coupons.com.

Kroger also has free samples available to request. Right now they are offering a free sample of Nicoderm, but in the past they have had numerous free sample offers available to anyone (not just Kroger card holders).

Was this useful? I don’t plan on posting my Kroger freebies every week, but I will when I find some new freebies worth mentioning. What else are you getting for FREE at Kroger?
