How are you preventing Summer Learning Loss?

Watch the short 1-minute video above about how you can prevent summer learning loss with Summer Bridge Activities®. During the summer are your kids losing skills and forgetting things that they learned last year? Summer learning loss has been extensively researched – and it’s a real problem that causes students to fall behind and teachers to spend extra time helping students catch up.

It’s easier than you think to help your kids keep their brains sharp and review what they’ve learned to retain it before starting the next grade. Carson-Dellosa has developed Summer Bridge Activities® workbooks to bridge the learning gap between all grade levels from Preschool to Grade 8.

3 Reasons My Kids Use Summer Bridge Activities®

1. Keeps Learning Fun – Carson-Dellosa keeps things fun for kids by breaking the summer down into three sections of 20 days. Each day has a mixture of math, language arts, social studies and science plus there are hands-on activities like exercises, science experiments and outdoor activities.

2. Sticker Rewards – Star stickers are included in every workbook! My kids get a sense of accomplishment when they get to place the star sticker on today’s completed activity sheet. I motivate my kids by letting them earn a 5 minute Technology Pass for every activity sheet they complete. They also can earn Technology Passes by reading chapter books.

3. Multiple Subjects in 15 Minutes a Day – My kids would rather do 10 math problems than 100, so I think it helps that each activity sheet covers several subjects with a few problems for each subject. And it means I don’t have to try to keep track of multiple workbooks because Carson-Dellosa covers it all and has correlated their workbooks to the Common Core Standards. The workbooks are designed so that every day you spend about 15 minutes on that day’s worksheet.

I’d love to hear your tips for bridging the learning gap during the summer – please leave a comment below!
