✂️No-Sew Face Mask with Fabric Ear Loops

by Freebies4Mom on April 10, 2020 6:00 pm

✂️How to make a No-Sew Face Mask with Fabric Ear LoopsAnother great no-sew face mask instructions to share with you thanks to Jennifer Maker. This one is awesome because it uses a unique t-shirt fabric pattern so that you don’t need elastic, ribbon or hair ties because it uses fabric ear loops. You can also add a filter to this no-sew face mask.

If you have a sewing machine, try the face mask with filter pocket pattern that I’m using. I have sewn four face masks so far and I’m starting on three more today!

✂️How to make a Face Mask with Brother ScanNCut

by Freebies4Mom on April 7, 2020 9:05 am

My friend Jeanne published a video on how to cut a face mask to sew using a Brother ScanNCut. I know some of my readers may have a Brother ScanNCut so I wanted to share this video! Jeanne also shows you how to use elastic hair ties to secure your face mask. It’s a creative way to get around the current elastic shortage.

✂️Filter Materials to use in DIY Face Masks

by Freebies4Mom on April 6, 2020 8:00 pm

✂️Filter Materials to use in DIY Face MasksGreat information on DIY Face Mask filter materials if you are making a face mask with filter pocket like I am. I decided to use a 13 MERV air filter disassemble it so I can cut the filter fabric using my pattern. I’ve made one face mask so far and am currently working on three face masks so I ordered another air filter to use.

I’m ordering the Accumulair Diamond 16x24x1 (15.5×23.5) MERV 13 Air Filter/Furnace Filter again on Amazon because it’s in-stock and only costs $14.99. I found it was easy to take this air filter apart to use the filter material for my filter inserts for my hand-sewn face masks.

✂️How to make a Face Mask with Elastic Hair Ties

by Freebies4Mom on April 6, 2020 4:00 pm

✂️How to make a Face Mask with Elastic Hair TiesMy friend JojoSews just published a video on how to sew a face mask using elastic hair ties. During the first half of the video she shows you how to embroider the mask using a Brother SE625. But you should watch even if you don’t have an embroidery machine because during the second half of the video she shows you how to sew a face mask with elastic hair ties. Since almost all of us have elastic hair ties in our house, I love this creative way of securing a DIY face mask.

✂️How to make Bias Tape to use as Face Mask Ties

by Freebies4Mom on April 5, 2020 7:34 am

Learn how to make bias tape using fabric in this video that my friend Melinda shared with me. It’s a great alternative to elastic or ribbon to secure your handmade face mask. It’s simply a matter of cutting your fabric, ironing it and then sewing it!

I made my first face mask using this face mask pattern with a filter pocket and I tried using elastic ear loops to secure it to my face. But I didn’t like the way the mask fit and it made me realize that ties would allow a more secure fit and make the face mask more adjustable.

So I’m now making bias tape to use as ties to secure the face masks that I make because I have plenty of fabric!
