Openings may be available in your area to apply for Nielsen’s Homescan National Consumer Panel. I’ve heard from my readers who are active in this program, and many find it a rewarding and easy way to earn free merchandise. Opportunities are limited based on where you live but I encourage you to apply to find out if there are openings in your area.
Here’s what one of my readers, Geraldine, said about it:
“We have been doing this for several years now & you can’t imagine how quickly the points add up. Last summer, we got a sand & water table for the grandkids, shipped to our door completely free! This is the large one that retails for $80-90 everywhere. The kids love it & the price was perfect! I have several thousand points now, just waiting patiently for a nice Christmas gift for the grandkids this year. If at all possible, you definitely should try this. It’s fun & you get incredible free stuff!“
Please be aware that this can be time-consuming as you have to scan all of your purchases, so it is certainly not something that everyone would be willing or able to do. But since I’ve gotten positive feedback from several readers I thought it would be worth sharing with you. This post contains affiliate links. For more information please visit my Disclosure Policy. I was a member for a few months- I quit and sent the scanner back. It was way too time consuming. I did a rough calculation figuring out time spent, points earned, and the value of what those points can get you- and I turned out to be making less than $1/hour. Not worth the time at all- very disappointing, since I was so excited to become a member.
Great to hear your experience with it – definitely sounds time-consuming!
Our family has been members of the homescan panel for over a year now and I have found it to be VERY time consuming. In addition we have found that it takes quite awhile for the points to add up to anything significant. For example, it took almost 8 months of participation to earn enough points to redeem for a coffee maker that retails for about $30 in the store. I have found that there are many other reward point type programs (Harris Polls, My Points, ect.) that reward participants at a rate equal to or better than the homescan panel but with a much less effort required.
Thanks for your feedback, Marnee!
