We all love to save money, but the Back To School Shopping List can be a bit overwhelming. Here are a few of my tips to stay sane and save money:
1. Donate what you can’t use from last year
If your kids have outgrown clothing or backpacks from last year, donate them now so that they have a chance to going to families in need before the school year starts. Remember to get a receipt for your donation because it might be tax deductible.
2. Make a list with your kids
Decide what you’re shopping for before you step foot in a store by making a list with your kids. Identify what your kids need versus what they want. Set limits on your back to school shopping by setting a budget. By going through this process with your kids, you’re teaching them good money management!
3. Shop online to save money and time
Look at the Back To School Savings page because Valpak does a great job of rounding up online coupon codes for you. We usually talk about how online shopping saves money, but what about the time you’re saving too? Shopping online is a great way to save time and gas because no driving is involved!
4. Promptly return what you don’t need
Whether you made a purchase online or in a store, don’t hesitate to return it if it doesn’t fit, your child doesn’t like it or it doesn’t match you school supplies list. The sooner you return it, the more likely you’ll get a full refund.
