Penguin Young Readers is offering a giveaway of the book Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson. Visit the author, Laurie Halse Anderson, at her website and blog. This book is for the teen audience and I’ll be giving an advanced reader copy to 2 of my lucky readers.
You’ll find Wintergirls on MySpace here and on Facebook here. Read an excerpt from the book. Here’s more information about Wintergirls directly from Penguin:
“Dead girl walking,” the boys say in the halls.
“Tell us your secret,” the girls whisper, one toilet to another.
I am that girl.
I am the space between my thighs, daylight shining through.
I am the bones they want, wired on a porcelain frame.
Lia and Cassie are best friends, wintergirls frozen in matchstick bodies, competitors in a deadly contest to see who can be the skinniest. But what comes after size zero and size double-zero? When Cassie succumbs to the demons within, Lia feels she is being haunted by her friend’s restless spirit.
In her most emotionally wrenching, lyrically written book since the multiple-award-winning Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson explores Lia’s descent into the powerful vortex of anorexia, and her painful path toward recovery.

BE AWARE – the Barry/Pearson novels have MANY MNAY MANY mistakes in their books from J.M. Barrie’s original stories! It’s like they never even read them!I recommend this Pan book… it’s the only one faithful to Barrie:http://www.peterpansneverworld.com/BELIEVE!

The Sorority Girls Series. Thanks, Cindijchoppes[at]hotmail[dot]com
Our family of five is devouring Peter and the Secret of Rundoon, book 3 of The Starcatchers Trilogy by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. This series is a prequel to Peter Pan and a captivating saga that leaves my children (6,9 and 11) and husband begging for more.
My daugher just finished The Princess Diaries series & is reading them again because she enjoyed them so much. I loved the Twilight Saga (my daughter is too young to read those yet!).
