Ready to learn how to make my Santa & Rudolph Cookies from Nutter Butter cookies? I promise they are easy to make and your kids can help you! This is an “assembly only” recipe, so no baking is involved! I melted chocolate chips that I bought at Family Dollar using a double broiler on the stove. If you’d like a thinner chocolate on your cookies, I recommend using brown melting chocolate. Here are the instructions to make these cookies:
SANTA & RUDOLPH COOKIES
Ingredients Needed:
- Nutter Butter cookies
- Red Hot Candies
- Small Round Red Chocolate Candies
- Candy Eyes
- Mini Pretzel Twists
- Red Decorating Sugar
- White Melting Chocolate
- Semisweet Chocolate Chips or Brown Melting Chocolate
Step 1 – Microwave your white melting chocolate and semisweet chocolate chips or brown melting chocolate in the microwave following the package instructions.
Step 2 – Dip the Nutter Butter cookies in the melted semisweet chocolate chips or brown melting chocolate. I like to dip them so only one side is complete coated with chocolate.
Step 3 – Dip the Nutter Butter cookies in the white melting chocolate: halfway on one side (for the beard) and a third of the way on the other side (for the hat).
Step 4 – Apply two candy eyes, one red hot candy and two pretzels to create the face of the Rudoph Cookie.
Step 5 – Dip part of the hat in the red decorating sugars being sure to leave a strip of white for the hat’s furry white rim.
Step 6 – Apply two candy eyes and one small round red chocolate candy by dabbing on a small amount of white melting chocolate to the back so they will stick to the cookie.
Step 7 – Drip a small amount of white melting chocolate onto one side of the hat to create the hat’s white pom pom.
Now you’ve got adorable cookies for Christmas and you didn’t even have to turn on your oven! Let’s see what else we can make for dessert.

Now that you’ve got your cookies, let’s make a trifle! My family loves candy canes, so I crushed candy canes to include in my Candy Cane Crush Trifle for Christmas. Here are the instructions on how to make this dessert:
CANDY CANE CRUSH TRIFLE
Ingredients Needed:
- Chocolate Pudding (chilled overnight)
- Vanilla Pudding (chilled overnight)
- Brownie Crumbs (prepared day before)
- Whipped Cream
- Candy Canes (crushed)
Step 1 – Your first layer will be vanilla pudding. Smooth into an even layer with the back of a spoon.
Step 2 – Your second layer will be brownie crumbs. Smooth into an even layer with the back of a spoon.
Step 3 – Your third layer will be crushed candy canes. You can crush them by placing them inside a sealable plastic bag and then crushing them with a hammer (kids love to help with this part).
Step 4 – Your fourth layer will be chocolate pudding. Smooth into an even layer with the back of a spoon.
Step 5 – Your fifth layer will be whipped cream. Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top and serve!
While I was shopping at Family Dollar, I looked for stocking stuffers and found some great ones! There was a wide selection of Christmas candy and I got glow clappers, solar dancers and crystal growing kits.
I found these adorable Christmas Mugs for only $2 each to use as gifts. I also stocked up on small gift tins for only $1 each. They are the perfect size for gifting cookies to neighbors (not too big so we can deliver them to a lot of neighbors).
Be sure to clip your Smart Coupons for Family Dollar before you go shopping! Remember to enter your phone number into the keypad at the register when you checkout. It’s a smart money-saving tool to make your dollars go further this Christmas!
