Over the past two years, I have worked out of my home as a cake decorator for my family, friends and a handful of customers. I have taken classes, done lots of research and picked up some helpful tips to make baking both fun and easy—and, of course, tasty! – How to turn an ordinary box of cake mix into an extraordinary dessert.
Starting next week, I will bring you my three part series to share with you how you can make and decorate cupcakes that taste bakery fresh but for much less money. My goal is to show you how to do this quickly and easily!
Part I
Part II – An easy and simple homemade icing recipe.
Part III – Tips & ideas for easy and fun cupcakes.
Hope you will enjoy this and share your tips and ideas with me!
I have been wanting to learn how to make spectacular cakes for a while now. I have hesitated because I don’t want to put out a bunch of $$, esp if it’s a flop. I’m looking forward to this.

I can’t wait. I love to bake and just recently undertook the task of making a frog cake for my oldest’s birthday. I made everything from scratch inculing the frosting and decorated the thing by myself. Just the frosting and decorating took me 3 long hours so I would love any tips to make it easier.
Can’t wait! I love baking and trying new things!!!

Great! My daughter is expecting me to make cupcakes for her kindergarten class for her birthday next month. I am not much of a baker, so this will be perfect timing for me. Thanks!
Great! There is a wonderful new cupckae bakery within walking distance from my house, but they charge $3.50+ for one TINY plain iced cupcake! I’ve given them as “thank you” and birthday gifts, but would love to save money and make my own (cuter) cupcakes.
I am looking forward to this post next week! We love cupcakes (my favorite thing to bake and decorate)! I make them 3-4 times a month….made some this morning for my MIL (mascarpone mini cupcakes with strawberry glaze). Can’t wait to read next week!Andrea
