This is what I got for free from Walmart this week! The only free sample I received in the mail was for L’Oreal Skin Genesis – the rest I “bought” using coupons for FREE. My Walmart still had tons of books leftover from their Speaking of Women’s Health event, so I picked up another copy. See below for the details on the items I “bought” above for free and what coupons I used.

What Can You “Buy” for FREE???
On this trip I had some “overage” that the cashier allowed so that covered my tax and went towards the one item I bought that wasn’t free. I learned that every cashier handles coupons differently, some will allow “overage” when the coupon value exceeds the price of the item, and some will take the time to correct the coupon price to equal exactly the price of the item. If I get any “overage” it is minimal and I take it with a smile because I know that those coupons that Walmart collects for me are getting reimbursed by the manufacturer at their full face value, so Walmart is still getting the money they “credit” me for my coupons back from the manufacturer.

This is what I “bought” for free this week:
Kraft LiveActive Cereal ($2.84 and I used my $3 printable coupon)
Johnson’s Buddies Soap and Travel Baby Lotion (with this printable coupon I told you about, I had two of them)
K-Y Jelly 2 oz. ($2.57 and I used the $3 coupon found in the May 11 Sunday ad insert)
Kotex 16 ct. (with coupon from May 30 All You)
Zantac Cool Mint 150 ($3.98 and I used the $5 printable coupon)
Old Spice Trial Size Body Wash (with Save $2 on 2 coupon from Sunday ad insert)
Kotex 16 ct. (with coupon from May 30 All You)
Zantac Cool Mint 150 ($3.98 and I used the $5 printable coupon)
Old Spice Trial Size Body Wash (with Save $2 on 2 coupon from Sunday ad insert)
I also bought Muir Glen Organic Diced Tomatoes (priced at $1.14 and I used this $1 coupon). I guess with my coupon overage these were free too! Money Saving Mom is a great resource for my “freebie shopping trip” at Walmart. Also check out “The Grocery Gathering” at BeCentsAble for a list of great deals at Walmart this week!
Thanks for the tip on the j&j; printable from the game. I had forgot all about that coupon and hadn’t even noticed that it said it worked on other products.
It kind of sounds like you might have bought the wrong bags of cereal, and got some not included in the sale. I know it’s hard to do (especially with kids) but I try to watch the register as items ring up, and I check my receipt before I leave the store.
they used the coupons but the cereal didn’t ring up as 3 for $7 like it showed in there ad maybe I just got the wrong kind of flavors or something .. oh well I still did pretty good ..since I’m still pretty new at all of this. Thanks for everything Heather I love your blog
Momma2Mia – if you think your coupons were taken by the cashier but not applied to your purchase, then definitely return to the store and speak to a manager. They should provide you the refund that you think you are owed for the coupons.
No, I used it at Albertson’s, sorry I forgot this was about Walmart..opps
ok so I looked at my receipt and the MoM cereal’s all rang up different prices 4.49, 4.19, and 1.99 so my cereal totaled up to 10.67 instead of the 3 for $7. What should I do, I do know that the coupon for free milk said no doublin, in reading the fine print.(since I was trying to find out if I could use it for a 1/2 gallon of organic milk–Nope) But the cashier let me use my coupons anyways but that means with my coupons I ended up paying for the $7.17 for the cereal. The only other things I got at full price was a BOGO Ice cream and I used my free yoplait kids yogart man. coupon. So do you all have any advice, I think I might have been jipped $3ish dollars but I don’t know if they were even supposed to take my 3 coupons(totaling 3.50) ? ? ? ?
So, you took the Albertson’s coupon to Walmart and they took it?
I’m not sure where I got them but some how I had 3 different Malt o meal cereal coupons, I think they may have been links to their actual site .. but I didn’t have 2 of each so I don’t know if they were not “brick” coupons or if I just didn’t know the back up trick when I first got those coupons…So Anyways my great deal for today was my Alberson’s had a coupon in there flyer for buy 3 M-O-M cereals get a gallon of milk free, and the cerals were 3-4 $7, minus my 3 coupons which totaled $3.50 so I basically got 3 cereals and Milk for $3.50 Now that I’m thinking of it my total should have been less, I gotta check my reciept!
Elizabeth – just remember that you can always ask for the Store Manager if you encounter a cashier that won’t take your coupons. In general, the Store Managers are usually more accomodating about coupons because they really want to make the customers happy. But glad you still got some great deals at Walmart!
I had a mean casheir today at Walmart…I didn’t get an overrage which was fine, but she made a big deal of the coupon being $.02 more than the product. Then, I had a Free Product Certificate from Newman’s Own and she didn’t know how to do that one, AND she wouldn’t let me use the $1.00 Hershey’s Bliss coupon with the BOGO Bliss coupon. 2 coupons, 2 bags…I don’t understand why not!?! Other stores let you. Anyway, I still made out with FREE Kashi waffles, FREE Fig Newman’s, and a few other really cheap deals.
Momma – I did get some Malt-o-Meal for really cheap a few weeks ago, but it wasn’t free. I’ll look-up the coupons and list them in Coupons 4 Mom again in case someone can use them.Amy – Thanks, it’s become a little challenge for me to see what my coupons can do for me at Walmart. I do need to start comparing prices for the items I normally buy at Kroger to see if I should get some of them at Walmart instead. Their prices are just really low overall.Pumpkin_Gal – Like Hollisann said please contact Corporate about it – sometimes stores are free to set their own policy and sometimes they are not. Often the employees will misinform you about their coupon acceptance policy, so you should always speak to the store manager, or call corporate. I’ve never heard of a Walmart store not accepting printable coupons before.
pumpkin_gal, I’d email or call corporate for the correct policy and then print it out and show it to them. Hand them your phone with the corporate number already dialing.
Arg! My Wal-Mart is no longer accepting “print-at-home” coupons! Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just my Wal-Mart?
GREAT job! You should be really proud of yourself, Heather!
I’ll have to check, but I actually printed $2.00 off on malt-o-meal cereals last week. If I can find the link, I’ll let you know. I think I remember seeing that you said Wal-Mart rolled their prices on that back to $2.00 a bag on some of them.
