Make Your List with Toys”R”Us and #LetsPlay
I remember making my Wish List when I was a kid, and I know my kids love to make them too! It’s easy to use The Great Big Christmas Book to make your wish list from because there are 82 pages of toys featured! For younger children they can cut & paste the toys they want. For older children they can cut out the Wish List in the front of the book to write on. Your children can also create a Wish List at ToysRUs.com. When my kids start making their Wish Lists I remind them that they aren’t going to receive everything they wish for and they have to be practical about their wishes. I’m’ using The Great Big Christmas Book for myself to find out what’s new this year – like the LEGO Fusion building sets that are also a game you can play on the iPad. It’s fun for my kids and I to discover the new toys at Toys”R”Us even if we don’t have time to browse the store together. 
After nine years of shopping for toys for two kids, I’ve got some tips to share!
4 Toy Shopping Tips from Freebies4Mom.com
1. Less is More
Focus on one or two toys that your child wants the most and avoid paying attention to the number of gifts. Kids love Christmas but they get overwhelmed by all the new toys! When they are receiving too many new toys at one time, you’ll see them pick out their one or two favorites and ignore the rest. So just give them their favorites! Checkout the Fabulous 15 Hot Toy List on pages 4 & 5 to get some ideas on what might be your child’s favorite toy!
2. Games are Great
Our favorite toys are games that our whole family can play together. We play games as a family at least once a week so I’m always looking for “family games” to give as gifts. Look at the games on pages 20 & 21 for some great ideas.
3. Let’s Play
Look for toys that your kids will enjoy playing with for a long time! I look for toys that encourage creativity and learning. I love the Create & Explore section starting on page 36 because there is everything from craft kids to microscopes.
4. Save Your Sanity
Remember that your time is valuable and try to avoid running around to lots of different stores. I love that Toys”R”Us has the best selection of toys because it means I can shop at just one store instead of three or more! I also love that there are multiple ways to save money at Toys”R”Us. When my kids get overwhelmed by too many toys on birthdays or Christmas, I let them keep their favorites. Then, any toys that have recommended ages that are older than they are or any toys that they already have plenty of (Playdough, Legos, etc.) I put them away, out of sight. When summer comes and they are bored I bring out the toys they haven’t seen in 6 months. This especially helps because both my kids have birthdays right before Christmas.
