You’ve missed this freebie, but you’ll find all of the Freebies here.

Still available if you haven’t gotten your free CFLs from Duke Energy! If you get your electricity from Duke Energy, then go ask for your free Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs (CFLs) for qualifying customers.  You will need to enter your account number to see if you qualify.  Margaret emailed over a year ago because she was thrilled she was able to order hers – and this offer is still available! I’d love to hear from you if you got free CFLs from Duke Energy – just leave a comment below. Originally posted on September 30, 2010. (image credit: Duke Energy)

I was told I was not elegible because I had already ordered them but I have not. I live alone so no one else could have ordered them. I am an unhappy customer. Martha

When I signed up, it was for only 12. Yes, there is mercury in them, but it is contained. The only problem would be if it broke. I read somewhere that if it broke, leave the room for about 15 minutes for the vapors to dissipate. Then clean up using gloves, etc.

I just saw on line ( so I don’t know how true it is) but these are really bad for your health. Might want to research it. Plus you need to remember to recycle these at a hardware store they have mercury in them!!
