Here are a 4 shopping tips from Freebies 4 Mom:

1. Shop early in the day if you can, you’ll get the best selection of merchandise and it tends to be better organized before lots of shoppers have rearranged things. If you strike-up a conversation with a friendly employee you can even find out the best days of the week to shop

2. Make a list but make it general enough (i.e. categories rather than specific brands) so that you can find several items to choose from to consider for your purchase. It can be overwhelming for some people to “browse” a store with such a huge selection. Making a list always helps keep you on-track during your shopping.

3. Look at your final price and don’t let the tremendous savings from the original retail price influence your buying decision. The final price is what matters because that is what you pay.

4. Buy unique items you fall in love with because they may be gone if you return to the store another day. The merchandise these off-price retailers carry varies each day and for some items they may only get one or two of them total to carry at that store.

Thanks for entering and come back Sunday, December 14 to find out who won. This is Day 4 of 10 days of giveaways. I hope that you are enjoying all of the wonderful things I’m giving away this week. Come back tomorrow for a giveaway that any do-it-herself woman would love to win. Good luck!

Allow for plenty of time to spend there….and bring along a couple of friends and you can help each other find what they’re looking for!

My biggest tip is go directly to the clearance rack. Best bargains are there.

My tip for shopping at TJ Max would be to have a good cup of coffee before going in so your all powered up to go and make sure you have plenty of time to look over everything..

I would love to go shopping for clothes.. My tip to get the most of my money is to shop clearance, you can save 50 to 75%. Thanks for the great giveaways DeAnn

My tip for TJ Maxx is to leave the stroller at home! Some of the aisles are so narrow that it’s much easier to put the baby in a sling or better yet leave her home with dad!

You said it already, but it bears repeating- look at the total you’re spending! I’ve fallen into the “Wow! Look how much I’m saving!” trap while not paying attention to how it all adds up.I only recently started reading your blog, and it’s been full of great tips. Thanks!

Always check the clearance racks at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. I have found some absolutely unbelievable deals on the clearance racks at these two places! I always enjoy shopping at these two places because you can find such pretty items in their giftwares.

I think one of the best tips is to find a way to leave the kids at home. I love them, but it’s hard to pick up everything they pull off the shelves and try to dissuade them from wanting everything!Keep these awesome giveaways coming, Heather! Thanks for sharing, as always!

sunnymum December 7, 2008 at 8:00 pm

I don’t have a new tip, but I will try the shopping early next time. My biggest challenge there is always clothes thrown all over the place. Thanks!

lonetree72 December 7, 2008 at 7:00 pm

Marshalls and TJ Maxx are good for finding some great kitchen ware, like le Crueset or All Clad.

Pamela December 7, 2008 at 6:33 pm

I just wanted to say thank you for the reminders. I am getting a late start on my shopping this year because of my son’s illness and the death of my father. With all those emotions at the service, I don’t want to make rush and make bad decisions money wise.Have a great day and thanks for a chance to win.

My tip for Marshall’s/TJMaxx is to have plenty of time to look—you’ll need it. Also, this is a tip for many stores, as far as kids’ clothes go, don’t trust the size on the hanger—always check the tag inside and make sure tops and bottoms are the same sizes on sets. Also, don’t trust those rack divider things—people put stuff in the wrong places sometimes so look around if you can’t find the size you want where it is supposed to be. You will often find it elsewhere.

My biggest tip for shopping at TJ Maxx is keep going back, and looking, the TJ Maxx here gets items twice a week. If you are looking for something in particular, they may have sold one on Sunday but get more in on Monday.
