*Expired* Free Snapfish Book from Oprah

by Freebies4Mom on November 12, 2008 11:45 am

You can no longer request the coupon, but those who did request it can use it before Saturday, November 22. New and current members can get afree 8×11 Photo Book from Snapfish thanks to Oprah. Yes, you do need to pay the shipping (you can not use coupon codes on this offer) – but this is a great offer that I think many of you will want to take advantage of. This book would normally cost you $29.99. Standard shipping is $6.99. And of course you’ve got to pay tax as it applies to your state. You’ve got to hurry and request your coupon by Friday, November 14. You’ve got to redeem your coupon by *UPDATE* Saturday, November 22 at 11:59 pm PST. Might make a great gift for under $10? All the thanks goes to Martha for sharing this deal with me!

****************************************************
Thanks for everyones comments, I’ve written some tips to help you out to get in on this great offer. I’m updating these tips as I receive new comments, so keep ’em coming!

Updated Tips:
1. Be sure you are not currently logged into your Snapfish account

2. Go to Oprah.com and click on “Get your free book!“to get this offer (expires Friday, Nov. 14 at 11:59 PM PST)

3. Then click on the yellow “Get Started” button

4. Either create a new account or log in to your current account

5. You should now see “1 FREE PHOTO BOOK” when you click on “My Account”. As Jenny pointed out in the comments, remember that his is only good for a Custom Cover 8.5 x 11 book. Don’t try to change the cover to cloth or leather or get a different size!

6. You can add extra pages to your book beyond the standard 20, you’ll just be charged for those extra pages ($29.99 will be deducted from the total price).

7. Don’t bother trying to use any other codes to cover the $6.99 standard shipping, you’re not supposed to combine this offer with any other codes.

8. Order early because this coupon expires on *UPDATE* Saturday, November 22 at 11:59 pm PST. Their website is busy with traffic from everyone trying to order their photo books before the old deadline of Sunday, so they’ve extended it.

9. Still having problems? Read this Snapfish FAQ: The Oprah offer did not apply to my order. You can also check out the Snapfish Help page. Also, read the comments below for more tips from my readers. Be aware that if you call Snapfish you should be prepared for a long wait since it sounds like they are getting flooded with phone calls. That’s just what happens when Oprah shares a deal like this.

10. Please read this comment from Stephen, a Snapfish employee:

Quick Note on what might help.

1. If you are already a member you must log out and then click on the link. If you are logged in and click on the link, the credit will not appear.

2. There is no coupon code. Once you have logged out and clicked on the link you navigate back to your account page. If you click in the top right section under YOUR ACCOUNT you should see a free photo book listed in your credits section.

3. Yes, we are experiencing high call volume as well as high chat volume. Our customer service team is working non stop to address all the issues, wait times are longer than normal.

4. You should not be receiving an email saying you were charged $29.99 for your photo book, if you are then that is an error we can correct for you. Please forward that email to customer service and they will take care of it for you.

Finally thank you for all the patients and excitement around the offer, we appreciate all your feedback.

Thanks,
Stephen

Do I actually have to email them to request my coupon? I already have an account but when I click on the button that says get started it routes me to a different area and I am at a loss. Any help appreciated.Elizabeth

Elizabeth-Click the button “Get Started” and sign into your account. Then go to “Your Account” (top right) to confirm that the coupon code is in your account, ready to use anytime before the end of the day Sunday.-HeatherFreebies 4 Mom

Thank you Heather for the info. I clicked on my account and apparently I do not have that offer for some reason. I did not see it anywhere. Elizabeth

Elizabeth – Please call Snapfish and ask them about it – I didn’t see any exclusions on the offer so it would appear that everyone can get it. Let me know if you learn anything worth passing along to other readers.-HeatherFreebies 4 Mom

Thank you Heather for sharing this great offer. I have had a saved photo book for over 2 months. I have been waiting for a great sale/coupon to order. Instead of paying $36.98 plus tax, I just got my album for $7.47. Thanks again!! ๐Ÿ™‚ thriftywaysandideas.blogspot.com

Another idea w/kids’ pics: I scanned in my son’s artwork and used the pictures to make a calendar on shutterfly to give as Christmas gifts for family.

@ Elizabeth- I wandered around the Snapfish site looking for a code too….but when you click on the “store” tab, then click on “photo books” it says across the top of the screen that photo book credits appear automatically in your cart before you confirm your order!

I had a problem at first, too. I was already logged into my account when I clicked on the Snapfish link. The coupon did not get credited to my account. So, then I logged out of my account, clicked on the Snapfish link in this post, and THEN logged into my account. The coupon was then credited to my account! Hope this makes sense.

Reply

Diana November 12, 2008 at 7:59 pm

Even though the coupon doesn’t show up in your account it does get credited to your account. I had to go all the way through to the ‘review your order’ screen in order to make sure I was going to get my free book. I did already have an account – just make it like you would anything else and then when you order it, it does credit you.

Reply

Diana November 12, 2008 at 8:01 pm

Not sure what happened to my first comment – but even if you have an account and your credit doesn’t show up in your account, you will get the free book. I had to get all the way to the ‘review your order’ screen to see the credit (after the billing screen even!). It did work though. I already had an account and was nervous too, but it does work.

Anonymous November 12, 2008 at 8:38 pm

I was having the same trouble, but I was already logged in when I tried to get my credit. I logged out of my account and then started over. After this my account showed as having the credit. Does anyone know what happens if you go over the 29.99 price (ie you need more pages)?

Reply

Heather November 12, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Response to Comment #16 – Read Comment #7 by Maria. It sounds like you can add more pages and the $29.99 cost will be deducted (so you just pay for the extra pages). I hope it works for you! Come back and leave a comment if you learn anything useful to share!-HeatherFreebies 4 Mom

I took advantage of the deal too… however, I’m having major problems. (I hope no one else does!) I had the credit and then when I checked out… my card was still charged the full price. I’ve been on hold with customer service for 113 minutes now. This doesn’t count all the times I was hung up/disconnected from them! What a waste of an evening!

Reply

Heather November 12, 2008 at 10:00 pm

Skinner Family – That is not good! I’m guessing that Snapfish is overwhelmed with phone calls about this offer. You can also email them and they would hopefully follow-up. You should be able to get the charge reversed but obviously need to actually reach a live person at Snapfish to make the fix. Is anyone else having problems with their coupon code? I’ll be trying mine as soon as I can find time to make the book.-HeatherFreebies 4 Mom

Jenny November 12, 2008 at 10:06 pm

From my experience with free credits with Snapfish before (My Coke Rewards), you have to get exactly the item that the credit is for. In this case, it looks like you have to get a custom cover 8″x11″ book. If you get the cloth/leather/other cover, the credit won’t apply. I checked with their customer service on a previous credit (before creating it) and they said that was their policy. HTH

Jenny November 12, 2008 at 10:10 pm

Apparently, they’ve had a lot of people call about it not crediting—check out this FAQhttp://support.snapfish.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/683/c/519/brand/3/sno/0

It seems that if you are a current member you have to log out, and then if you haven’t been on the site in a while make sure your credit card information is updated (since that’s the first screen you see if you haven’t placed an order recently). After I did that and logged out and tried again it seemed to work. Also, if you go to the help section at the bottom right and click on “promos and coupons” I believe it was, it tells you how to make sure the credit applies if you are having problems.

The trick is definitely to be logged out of your account BEFORE you visit Heather’s link. I tried over and over and that’s the only thing that worked for me. As soon as I logged out of the account and then clicked on the Oprah link I was given the credit. Good luck!!

Thanks for this great freebie! I had ordered 2 larger photo books from Snapfish last week, so I made a smaller, 20-page copy for myself yesterday. I had no problems with using the coupon, and I paid just $7.57 in shipping and tax.

I was also charged full price for the book even though it said I would only be charged $6.99 plus tax on step four of checkout. On the e-mail they sent after my order was placed it said I was charged $29.99. Be careful.

FYI, according to the website you will get a note on the CART screen that says your credit will be applied at checkout. HOWEVER that note never appeared for me. I put in my credit card info, clicked CONTINUE, entered my shipping info, and clicked CONTINUE to REVIEW my order. That’s when the credit finally appeared. It was the last screen before I finalized my order. This may be helpful to some of your readers who are having trouble. Thanks for letting me know about this great offer!

Response to Comment #51 – It is true that you can no longer request the coupon, it expired at the end of yesterday. But it sounds like you already requested the coupon and therefore it should be in your account. Read the tips above, because it sounds like you may not see the credit until you actually put the book in your cart and checkout. Come back, make the book today, put it in the cart after finishing it, fill in the shipping and billing information, …and it’s still like, $40. Did the crap the Snapfish ppl said on here and it didn’t work. Am I just SOL, or do I buy this, wait a month once everyone’s done complaining and then call?
