Often when bloggers talk about making money from their blogs, it is through advertising, such as BlogHer, Google Adsense, or other affiliates.
But there’s another way you can make money through blogging: Referrals.
There are many great shopping portals out there that offer cash back for purchases when you order through them. If you refer a friend, you can make extra money.
A great example of this is Ebates. Ebates will pay you $5 for each person who signs up and makes a qualifying purchase. They often have promotions where they will pay you $10 per sign-up and/or award you a Target gift card.
MyPoints offers reward points for each person you refer who signs up and earns 250 points in the first month. MyPoints is an easy way to earn gift cards just for reading your e-mail.
InBox Dollars and CashCrate also reward you for referrals to its e-mail intense advertising programs.
Many bloggers make money from referrals to ING Direct. I’ve never participated in this, but I believe you get $10 for each person you get to start an account with them.
You can also make money by referring people to affiliate advertising programs you participate in. Some of them offer a percentage of what the person you refer earns, others offer a flat fee. Be sure to check out the terms on your affiliate site.
