We do a few signs with our son, but would love to learn more!
I am a Head Start teacher who is using sign with one of my students whose parents are both deaf. About 1/2 of my class are English Language Learners, so pairing the signs with the spoken word is helping them to improve their vocabulary. I have been trying to check these DVDs out from the local libraries, but they are very popular items.
I am hoping to sign with my son. I think it is great (:
First of all I am eager to watch the DVD and learn something. I am sure my little boy will be inspired to watch and learn. Thanks so much!
I would love to teach my kids signing (and learn more, myself!) My almost 3 year old is still having some difficulty in speaking, so this could really alleviate her frustration..
I plan to sign with my Granson, Gabriel James, who is due to arrive on February 27, 2009. Thank you!
My BFF and her husband sign with my Goddaughter who is now 16 months old. They have been doing it since she was just born. They are having such success, I want to share these with my sister and her husband who are expecting their first born.Sara Anders
We took a baby signing class before and just after our DS was born. We found out that he had a significant hearing loss. He is 3 months. We sign almost everything to him, he really pays attention!! Good news is that his hearing is improving!
Four of my grandchildren have been taught to sign and it made it so much easier to communicate basic needs. I was really impressed!
We just checked these out from the library a few weeks ago and our 18 month old loved them! We’ve been doing small signs with him since he was only a few months old, and I plan to continue signing even more with his younger brother due in February!
We started watching signing time with the hope that our little boy would learn some signs, he doesnt seem to care much but our 3 yr old daughter loves to watch the show and knows all sorts of signs.
When kids are young they pick up everything – Teaching them signing is the best idea ever.. They pick it up soo fast – Please and thank you are the best, when they can’t say words yet! GREAT GIVEAWAY!
I signed with my 2 year old daughter, but haven’t really started with my son.
we’ve been signing, but i don’t think enough. Owen is funny though. one day I thought he finally signed milk. Totally opened and closed his fist and everything. turned out he was “signing” for “I want that.” I knew this cause two mintues after I got done nursing him, he did it to the cat. LOL! (I guess he could want both…right?)
I’m just starting to sign with my 8 month old and looking forward to learning more!
My son is 11 months old, and signs “milk”, “up” for “pick me up”. We’ve been working on basic signs with him since 4 months. I’m looking forward to the day when he can communicate with more.
We do a little signing with our son, and it’s been a godsend since he’s a late talker. He’s just mastered the one dvd he has, so these would be great. I think I’ll check out what the library has to offer as well.
My son learned the words along with signs. He was very verbal, and continues to enjoying signing now at age four. I would love to learn more signs to use with my daughter, 1, and the one on the way!
We love the Signing Time shows – my 4 year old loves learning the signs and singing the songs, and we are using basic signs with my 8-month-old! Thanks!
Signing Time is popular in our house! My daughter saved up her money to buy it, and she is really into sign language. She would LOVE this set! Thanks.
We can not say enough about signing time. We love Alex and Leah! Both of my girls signed. I truly think it help them in several ways! I recommend it for everyone!
We tried a little with our first, but hope to do more with our 2nd (on the way!) Thanks!
We love signing time at our house! We usually check them out at the library, but it would be awesome to have a copy for our home.
I sign with my 14-month old, and he signs back a bit. He made his first signs when he was about 9 months old, but then went on a “signing strike” and wouldn’t sign until recently, even though he obviously understood what I was signing. My 8 yo daughter is also VERY interested in signing and so I have had a neighbor tutor her in sign during school breaks. I LOVE the Signing Times DVDs and we get them out of the library when they are available, but they are very popular and so aren’t on the shelf that often!
My 13 mo old LOVES his signing time dvd. Just this past week he started consistantly signing "eat" for us. Yea! He may be doing other signs that are hard to distinguish from typical movements. He knows what the signs mean even if he doesn't sign back yet. I'm so excited that there is now baby signing time 3 & 4!!
I plan on starting with my son. He’ll be 8 months old tomorrow.
We have been signing with our almost 2 year old twins since 6 months. They are both very talkative now but still use sign a lot! They love Signing Time, too!
We have used signing times with both of our children adopted from China –
I would love to give this to my niece who is about 7 months old! ajcmeyer AT go DOT com
We’ve done signs with all 4 of our kids.
We started signing with our daughter when she was born and then we found out when she was a little over a year that she was completely deaf. It was amazing because not only was she not behind other kids in communication but she was way ahead. My daughter loves to watch anything that has sign language in it. Now we are teaching our 5 month old to sign too!
Our 11 mo. old started signing just a month ago! Her first sign was drink :-)We love ST!! and BST!!
Oh man I want to win this so bad! We did some signing with our first child and now that I’m expecting again (YAY!) I want to do more of it! I looked at babies r us for Signing Time stuff but they had NONE.
My DD is 7 months, and I’ve started teaching her some signs. It would help to have guidance with a video. Thanks for the giveaway.
we sign with our 18 mo. old and she can recognize much of what we sign to her even if she doesn’t sign that particular one. She does on a regular basis do, more, please, thank you, milk, water, eat, drink. She used to do a few more, but has moved on to sctual words, we love the way it defuses her frustration in many situations.
We did sign some with our granddaughter. The problem came when she was in the church nursery and would “sign” for her drink. They did not realize what was going on. Once her parents realized what was going on, they started telling others what some of her signing meant…and all was great.
We sign with our 14 month old and he signs back. It is so nice to be able to communicate with him.
We’ve signed with both our children (Caleb 4, and Noah, 2). We tried various DVDs and other shows, but the only one that the boys enjoyed watching and requested frequently was Baby Signing Time. Our copies are so beat up. We sure could use a new set for baby #3.Nicole
This is crazy, but we JUST started signing yesterday with our 5 month old. Crazy timing =P. This is our first child, and we started through Gymboree’s Baby Signs class, but when my husband was in high school his step-sister and her kids lived with them for a while, and they did signing with the boys and according to my husband, it works! I really don’t know what I’m doing, and to be honest I feel like an absolute nutcase doing it. I really don’t get how you would recognize signs apart from random things the baby does…but I guess we’ll worry about it when she actually signs =P.
I’ve heard SO much about these dvd’s – love to try them out. Thanks for hosting this giveaway! We’ve used sign with our son – it’s been a huge help!
I starting signing with my now 13 month old from day one. It is sooo awesome to see her sign when she wants something or even to sign mama!! My 6 year old signs as well but just started last summer. It is so much FUN! I have never used videos so to have some “help” would be great!
We started signing some time ago, but we really don’t know what we are doing, to say the least! I would love this opportunity to learn though! Awesome giveaway!
We sign with the kiddo! He signs “milk” and “finished” but recognizes a lot more than that. Since he really started talking, we don’t see him signing as often, but I still sign with him.
I do sign with my 7 year old daughter who is diagnosed with selective mutism. In simple terms, she can talk, does talk at home (very well, in fact), but does not anywhere outside of the home. I have several other signing time dvd’s and love them! Blessings, Calina
We signed with our first child–WOW, a smashing success! We’ll do it again for sure with our 4-month old.
