I received a free book in the mail thanks to Read It Forward. If you are interested in receiving random books from Random House for free, then this program is for you! Sign-up for their newsletter because it’s unclear to me if they are still accepting sign-ups. I was surprised when I received a book. These books are advance readers copy that are distributed free of charge while supplies last. All that they ask is that you pass the book along to someone else after you finish reading it. The book I received is a psychology book called “The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes – And Why” by Amanda Ripley. Definitely not a book I would pick up on my own but what a coincidence that it ties in with one of this week’s topics on my blog; disaster planning. For more tips read How to get books for free.
What other freebies did I get in my mailbox this week?
Stride Gum – The request form is still up so if they still have free samples left they will send you a full pack of gum. This has got to be the strangest free sample request I’ve ever seen, so you might want to read my tips about it first so you successfully get to the form.
Glad ForceFlex – Still available from Sam’s Club, I share it with you here.
AdPerk – It really works! I got my second issue of Redbook and it included a coupon insert (another Voila coupon to earn that Charlie Brown DVD). The only magazine subscriptions you can earn by watching ads is Ode and Field & Stream, but more titles are promised to be offered soon and I’ll be blogging about it when they do. If you want to learn how to get magazines for free, I wrote a comprehensive post Free Magazines 4 Mom. The only magazine subscription I will pay for now is All You (for the coupons).
Kotex – I received my sample from Walmart, includes a $1 coupon and a survey link to print two more $1 coupons (I had already taken the survey from the sample I got directly from Kotex, so couldn’t print any more coupons). You can also request the same sample pack directly from Kotex. Got to love double samples!
Playtex Sport – I received my sample from Walmart and it came with a $1 coupon.
These freebies are no longer available to request, but you may have gotten them too:
Snuggle – I received my 2 load fabric softener sample along with a coupon, I shared this freebie with you here.
YoMommy – Not even I was fast enough to get this FREE yogurt coupon, but I did get a $1 coupon for this yogurt.

So if you add this book and someone wants it you will get 1.1 points. Then you can get a book you want for 1 point. I have gotten about 16 books this way and its great.
