. . . and I want to tell you why it is making me happier! Please visit Life as Mom where my guest post “Joyfully Joining the Infrequent Shopper’s Club” is featured today. I think some of you will be surprised, and others will find yourselves nodding your head and saying you are right there with me. I look forward to reading your comments!
Great article, Heather! I totally get where you’re coming from. I think that will be me in a few years, but right now, I have to get out of the house with my kids (2 little boys do NOT like to spend a lot of time at home, especially since we don’t have a yard) so I might as well shop productively and save money. But maybe I should stockpile for those years to come when I won’t be shopping like this anymore :)
Hi Heather,Great article on the other blog!! I, too, have started in the last month only going to the grocery store once a week. It has been a nice change and great way to save money on no buy impulsively. I had to laugh today becauuse my teenaged son came home from school and opened the fridge and asked, “where is the other half of the refrigerator?” To which I replied “it’s at Wal-mart and I only go once a week now”! LOL
Heather,That was such a good article, I have become a blog junkie, thanks to you and Angie at BC but that is how I found out about the CVS game and walmart coupon matching to get things really cheap or free(from links to others blogs). I loved it and had lots of shopping “highs” for getting such good deals, and it was great when there were/are really good deals, but the other half the time I’d come home with all kinds stuff we wouldn’t normally buy. Also I would have to go way out of my way to go to the Super walmart for all their grocery deals, when I barely go to walmart in general(we have a Target and kmart less than a mile away). Besides all of that we have cut way back on everything in general and are trying to stick with a monthly budget of $300 for gas and grocerys for a family of 3. So you are definately not alone and I’m so glad to see that you are letting everyone know that it’s ok to STOP shopping if we don’t need it, like a buddy system…lol!
I, too, make one weekly trip to my grocery store. I recently stopped obsessing about deals at my drugstore–3 trips in one week for a free bottle of aspirin that was never in stock was my wake up call! Our time is just as precious as our pocketbooks.
Great article!!! I commented over there!
