Sorry, this deal was too hot for Target and they revisedTarget’s Price Matching Policy to state they will not price-match advertised deals like this one unless they are for an entire week. Keep reading your ads, but only try to price-match the regular week-long ads.
Here’s how Kristine got this LeapFrog Alphabet Pal toy for only $0.49 at Target by matching a competitor’s advertised price, and using a printable target toy coupon.
Kristine said: “Target has these priced at $19.89. Toys R Us has these in their Door Busters Ad for Friday (today) and Saturday only for $10.49. I took the ad into Target today and was honored the price match of $10.49 ALSO Target has an active coupon (both online and in the Big Toy Book) for $10.00 off the Leapster Alphabet Pal (look on pg. 3 of coupons). I bought 2, at $10.49 each minus the 2 $10.00 off coupons and my total price for the entire transaction was $1.06!!!! This is just WAY TOO GOOD of a deal not to share with the rest of the Mom’s out there trying to save a little money on Holiday Shopping!! Keep in mind, this is for TODAY and TOMORROW ONLY!!!”
Thanks for emailing me the great deal you got, Kristine! This is a great example of how it pays to read your ads. Both Target and Walmart will price-match competitor’s advertised prices on the exact same item. Browse all the Target Toy Coupons and see what other deals you can create.

Same situation as the person above me. I also saw this at Walmart for $15, but I have don't have a Walmart ad to show.
Even though I missed the doorbuster price wal-mart has it for 15.00 so I am going to see if I can get it from target for only 5.00. My only problem is I don't know how to prove the price too target if there is no ad I just saw it in the store PLEASE HELP!
I went to Target today and got 5 of these at .49 cents each. It was even after TOYS R US doorbuster hours and the cust service cashiercommented on this and still put it through with NO problem. Thankyou and good luck to all with these deals.
It worked for me yesterday in IL-only $.53! I should have bought more than one… :)
all the targets in the area are SOLD OUT! booooo. the closest one with them in stock is in the next state, oh well.
I tried today and they were going to honor the price match, but I had to buy it with the target Q and then go to guest services and get refunded for the price match difference. When I got over there, there was no difference, because Target Qs adjust the price down, instead of subtracting $ from the total purchase. So instead of it ringing up for 19.89-10.00, it rang up as $9.89. So the price match would have been higher….bummer! If I had another Target Q I would try another store.
was not able to do this at the local Orange City, FL Target. They changed their policy last night and refused to sell it at this price!
I work at Target and they dont price match for timed events like doorbusters or special Hot hours. At my store I know that 1 woman SCREAMED at the poor 17 year old cashier and made her cry to get the deal. I like saving money and I love this site but I must ask that we remember that these cashiers get a lot of abuse and they are more willing to go out of their way to look for extra savings you might have missed when you are nice.
Yeah, I called to find out if my target would do this and they would not. too bad.
I actually got mine free because the kid at customer service was arguing with me that they were $9.49 not $10.49. I had the ad with me and he still charged me $9.49 and took the $10 coupon. Crazy! I guess it all just depends on the clerk ringing you up!
I just went today and the manager there said that I can either use the price match for the Toy R Us deal or the $10 coupon, I couldn't do both.
I just used the ad and coupon at Target this morning to pick up two of these!
You could also try Walmart, with Target's coupon. Went to Target yesterday to get the $10 off UP and Monster's Inc (plus $18 off in manf. coupons). Target didn't have Monster's Inc, so my hubby took all the coupons to Walmart (I'm so proud of him!). Depends on who you run into that day.
They've added to their exclusions "Doorbusters"
I also got the "timed events " don't count. It says right in the Target policy posted in original post that"doorbusters DON'T count". This is advertised as a doorbuster by TRU.I saw there policy the manager was given with my own eyes too and they said they had porblems with this all day. This is throughout Oregon apparently so watch out : )
It actually says on the Target link that Door busters are excluded.
I went tonight and they were out and when I spoke with a lady at guest services, she said that they don't honor 2 day or doorbuster sales, it has to be a week long, normal sale. I guess it just depends on where you live and if they've "caught" on to this great deal.
Salt Lake City Target on Fort Union will not honor it either!!!
I got 3 at our T total was just under 2 dollars! I picked up one for a friend and one for our missions closet at church! fantastic deal!
I got 3 this morning for my nephew, my friend's niece, and one to give a way. Did not clear the shelf. The cashier did say that they may put a limit on how many can be purchased, but was happy for me, and I got them for 49 cents each. Comments on Hip2 Save show that many have not had the same luck with their Targets .
I scored two of the Alphabet Pals tonight at our Target with absolutely no problem. They were 49 cents each. :)
We just checked one Target and I assume they may have pulled all of these off the shelves. We asked them to scan the bar code to see if they had any in back. Instead of scanning it, they saw the spot where they were and said they didn't have anymore, with out scanning the barcode. My husband is going to check one more Target for me tonight though.
Boise stores said they would not honor this, because it was a dorrbuster ad???
where do we get the TRU add? Can we bring an online printed one?
I read somewhere that people are having a problem with this because Target will not match Door buster deals. Just something to be aware of.
Just thought I'd let everyone know that Target has "changed" their price matching policy to say that it excludes "early bird" or "timed events" so this 2-day sale is excluded from the price matching. I was able to get one this morning, but I when I went to another target later in the afternoon to get another for my niece, they had changed it. I even called and confirmed with corporate. Bummer.
Holy Crap! I just bought one of these for our baby boy's 1st b'day. I got it for $9.99 with my coupons I used. Dang, I wish I would have waited a few days and saw this first! :(
