Update 10/21/09: I’ve heard mixed success on this offer – obviously experiences vary from store to store. Remember to ask for clarification on redeeming this offer so that you know what’s free (and what’s not).

I had no problem doing this with my son. They didn’t charge a sitting fee or tell us we had to buy something in order to get the collage. The photographer was great! The collage turned out wonderful!

I was excited about this offer, we made the appointment, brought the boys in, got through the pics – loved them, gave the coupon, and then….The sales associated pointed out the coupon states “restrictions apply”. So they can make up the restrictions? We had to purchase a sheet any size in order to get the Halloween collage – which she stated was a $29.99 value. So we got 2 5×7’s without the collage effects & the collage for around $9.00. Good luck if you try this one – I do not plan on going back there in the future.
Maybe Sears got jealous of the wildly popular free portrait deals that Picture People has offered here and here? The Lives of Kaylee & Mya just told me that Sears has a free 8×10 portrait collage that you can take advantage of through October 31. There is no session fee and they say it’s a $44.98 value (which I find hard to believe since it looks like you only get one 8×10 print). Mention the coupon when scheduling your appointment and ask questions when you call if you have them!
I don’t usually post portrait deals because I know it is so tempting to buy more than the free package. But I think if you walk-in with a plan and stick to your plan – if you only want to get the free photo you can do that. And I know many of my readers do successfully!

I went to the Security Square location in Maryland. Terrible wait time (they were running an hour late on all appointments) and they required a $14.99 print purchase before giving you the free Halloween print. I overheard this when the associate spoke of this "restriction" to another customer with the same coupon. I walked out of the place, especially after hearing this and that I would have to wait an hour. Very shady – I’d rather use JCPenney or the Picture People, have never had trouble with them honoring their coupons.
I did took my son in for his Halloween pictures today and was able to get the free collage no problem. Plus because I am a member of their super saving club I also got a free 8×10. No purchase needed!!
After reading these comments I am even more frustrated! I should have read them before I got both of my kids dressed and ready. We were told we had to purchase 3 sheets at $9.99 each! Seems like associates like to make up their own rules. I would be on the phone with customer service at the moment but lucky for them they are on a lunch break. This is the reason why I don't go to Sears.
Had no problem getting ours done. The collage and session were totally free. I couldn't help myself and insisted on buying other photos when we got done though. Oops! It was nice to at least get a collage without having to pay for it!
I went to Sears Studio with my 10-week-old son yesterday, when it was snowing heavily out.after taking about 17 photos, the lady there told me that i have to buy at least 9.99 to get the free collage, which says on coupon "ask sales associate for details". And if i don't purchase anything, I can not have the copyright of my son's photos!!!!

We go to Sears alot… (We take pictures of the baby to send to my husband in Afghanistan.)They sell their portrait collages for like 39.99, so yeah… I think that is kinda high.. BUT, if you look at their website, the sometimes have buy one at 9.99 and get the second at 4.99 coupons. This particular coupon is ONLY FOR A HALLOWEEN COLLAGE… We got one the other day… :)FYI, you can buy the Super Saver card (good for a year) and with it, you get no sitting fees as well as B1G1 on your portrait pages… That is what we went with! :)
Thanks for posting this Heather! You can print the page on Sears and bring it in to them, I fiqure since it's just for Halloween I'll stick to just the free photo this time. Gina- The free portrait says there is no sitting fee.
I like the deal but am hesitant to use it. I had a coupon similar to this about a year ago (the last time I went to sears portraits) and had the salesgirl tell me that I had to pay a sitting fee. I asked her to show me on the coupon where it says that and she couldn't find it. I stood my ground, and she finally gave in. So, if anyone goes in for this offer and gets any sort of additional charges, stand your ground and go by the rules of the coupon!
