DIY Christmas Centerpiece – Bundt Pan Candle Holder

by Freebies4Mom on December 20, 2019 6:02 pm

DIY Christmas Centerpiece - Bundt Pan Candle Holder

Here’s a table centerpiece that you can make with things you probably already have in your house! Do you have a  bundt pan? I love the way bundt pans look so I’ve got them displayed on the top of my china hutch in my dining room. I wanted to make a new centerpiece for our Christmas table by using my bundt pan and sticking a taper candle inside. It turns out that the small hole in the bundt pan is the perfect size for a taper candle to stand up in. Add some fresh cranberries to help support that taper candle and wrap it with any type of green garland. I used the holly garland that I use on my fireplace mantel.

I was shocked that I put this centerpiece together in about 5 minutes and created something completely new for the center of our dining room table. I love the way the candlelight reflects off the bundt pan! At first glance it doesn’t even look like a bundt pan because the cranberries are spilling out of the center. Since I’m using fresh cranberries, I can only use this centerpiece for a few days (those cranberries will wither and mold). As an alternative you could use fake cranberries.

What type of Christmas Centerpiece are you making for your table?

13.6 oz. dark chocolate (broken into pieces)

4.  Chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
5.  While the white chocolate is chilling, melt the dark chocolate and heavy cream in the top of a double boiler on the stovetop to gently melt the dark chocolate while stirring frequently.
6.  Pour the dark chocolate onto the chilled white chocolate and gently spread.
7. Chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

How to make DIY Viva® Vantage® Folded Pockets

It’s easy to make Folded Pockets using Viva® Vantage® paper towels with just a few folds and I show you how in my step-by-step tutorial. They are great to serve holiday candy in because it gives you a way to hold the candy for a pretty presentation.

Viva How To Blog 630x252

Step 1 – Trim your Viva® Vantage® towel to a 10 inch by 10 inch square. I used a paper cutter to measure and trim it.

Step 2 – Fold your towel in half to make a triangle.

Step 3 – Fold down the top corner to meet the bottom edge of your triangle.

Step 4 – Take the right corner of your triangle and fold it across to match your fold line.

Step 5 – Take the left corner of your triangle and fold it across to match your fold line. Now you have two flaps, one on each side.

Step 6 – Open up all of your folds so you again have a triangle shape.

Step 7 – Now fold in the right and left sides first.

Step 8 – Fold down the top triangle last to form your folded pocket.

Step 9 – Put something like Frosted Peppermint Bark inside your pocket, you may tape the edges to secure the pocket shape.

  • Kleenex® Oval or Canister.
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • PomPoms (multi-colored, large and medium sizes)=
  1. Punch out (or cut out) the bottom of a Kleenex® Oval or Canister.
  2. Remove Kleenex® tissues
  3. Find the seam and use scissors to cut along the seam to the top then cut thru the plastic frame around where the Kleenex® is dispensed
  4. Your cover is ready to decorate then slide over a Kleenex® Oval or Canister
  5. Using hot glue, place a small amount on each pompom then stick the pompom to your cover
  6. Place large pompoms on the edges of your cut in order to conceal the small gap after you slip the cover on
  7. Be careful when sticking pompoms to the bottom edge because you want your cover to still stand up straight
  8. Continue gluing pompoms to your cover in an overlapping pattern until it is entirely covered

Thankful Sunflower Thanksgiving Craft

Thankful Sunflower

Thankful Sunflower Thanksgiving Craft
There are lots of Turkey Thanksgiving Crafts, but I wanted to create a Sunflower Thanksgiving Craft to display on my Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator with the assistance of  my kids (ages 5 and 7).  My goal was to create a craft project that uses what we already have and that would encourage my kids to think about what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving. I love sunflowers so much I created a Sunflowers = Happiness Pinterest board. Speaking of Pinterest – please Pin this Sunflower Thanksgiving Craft!

What You’ll Need
Scissors, paper, tape, and a marker are all you’ll need for this project. Please don’t go out and buy paper for this project because even if you don’t have yellow, green, and brown paper you can always use white and ask your kids to color it! We used scrapbook paper that I already had because we really wanted this to be a GIANT Thankful Sunflower.

Cutting The Sunflower
Parents can freehand cut the Yellow Sunflower Petals, Green Leaves, Green Stem, and Brown Sunflower Center. Or supervise your kids while they cut out these components. I like my petals to all be slightly different shapes because it’s more realistic. I don’t want my Sunflower to look like a cookie cutter.

Assembling The Sunflower
Ask your kids to count the Sunflower Petals and help you arrange the flower on the table. I asked my kids to draw criss=cross lines on the Sunflower Center (because that’s what it looks like on my Mexican Talavera pottery) and to draw the veins on the leaves. It’s not time to tape anything because you want to write what you’re thankful for on the Sunflower Petals first.

What are you Thankful for?
Write “I Am Thankful For” on the center of your Sunflower. Asking your kids what they are thankful for is the funnest part. My kids wanted to list every single food that we have on the Thanksgiving table, but I only let them list two and then we moved onto people and other things. The very last petal of the sunflower says House on it and that is my favorite one because we are so thankful we have a house to live in.

Taping the Sunflower
First we took the Sunflower Center off and then taped the base of the yellow Sunflower Petals together. More tape to secure the stem and leaves and finally the center of the sunflower. Once all parts are connected to each other you can flip it over and put tape on the back to stick it to your refrigerator.

Display on Your Fridge
Display your Thankful Sunflower where your kids can see it and talk about it. We didn’t measure our Frigidaire door before creating our sunflower, so it hangs over the edges of the door a little. My kids love the Thankful Sunflower we created and want to show it off to anyone that visits our House (and we’re thankful for it!).

Dessert for DinnerMy Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator saves me time by making cubed and crushed ice using filtered tap water. I used to make my own ice, and buy bottled water to make it with. What am I using the extra time my Frigidaire saves me? I’m using it to do creative and educational projects with my kids, like this Thankful Sunflower Thanksgiving Craft.

I love decorating for Halloween and I’ve got a new sofa table in my family room that’s just screaming for a DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece. I shopped at Family Dollar Stores® to save money using the new Smart Coupons on laundry essentials and all of the supplies I needed to create an affordable DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece by reusing an orange Tide PODS container. Smart Coupons are digital coupons that you can load to your account to use at Family Dollar® and they are helping customers save an average of $10 per order.

I want to help you save money at Family Dollar® too, so create your Smart Coupons account and clip the Tide PODS laundry detergent and Downy Liquid Fabric Softener/Enhancer coupons plus register to receive more savings via email. It’s easy to redeem your coupons at checkout when you type in your phone number into the keypad. I saved $2.50 on Tide PODS and Downy Liquid Fabric Softener/Enhancer and a total of $8.75 on my shopping trip by using Smart Coupons. Family Dollar® is dedicated to providing you home essentials while saving you money with Smart Coupons.

I’ll walk you thru the steps to save money at Family Dollar® on everything you’ll need to make a DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece.

Smart Coupons at Family DollarStep 1Login to Smart Coupons on Family Dollar®. Or create a free account if you don’t already have one. You can start clipping the Smart Coupons that will help you save money at Family Dollar®.

Clip Smart Coupons at Family Dollar

Step 3 – Print your list of clipped coupons so you can take your list to Family Dollar® and have all the coupon details handy.

step-4Step 4 – Shop at Family Dollar® for your favorite brands. I shopped the laundry aisle for Tide PODS and Downy Liquid Fabric Softener using my Smart Coupons to save a total of $2.50 on these laundry essentials.

step-5Step 5 – I needed to restock my laundry essentials with Tide PODS which I love for their convenience and no-mess. I needed Downy Liquid Fabric Softener/Enhancer to help my clothes feel soft and smell fresh.

step-6Step 6 – While I was shopping at Family Dollar®, I also picked up Fall decor to help me make my DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece including Fall placemats, Fall floral sprigs and LED tealights.

step-7Step 7 – In order to turn my Tide PODS container into a DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece, I had to remove the stickers on the container. I did this by soaking it in warm soapy water then using an adhesive remover and a plastic scraper (like one you use to clean stoneware with). I just kept squirting the sticker with the adhesive remover then scraping the sticker off with the plastic scraper. It took some time to get all the stickers off, but the end result was a beautiful orange container ready to be made into a pumpkin!

step-8Step 8 – I drew the outline of a pumpkin face using a black permanent marker. Remember that your pumpkin face doesn’t have to be perfect!

step-9Step 9 – I colored in the outline with a black permanent marker to get my pumpkin face.

step-10Step 10 – I put LED tealights inside the pumpkin so that we can illuminate it at night.

step-11Step 11 – Lay out your Fall placemats to be the base of your centerpiece by overlapping them slightly. I used placemats instead of a table runner because it’s easy to adjust the length and they are multi-purpose.

step-12Step 12 – Place an additional placemat in the center to set the pumpkin on top of if you’d like. I liked this coppery leaf placemat that I found at Family Dollar®.

step-13Step 13 – Place pumpkin on top of the center of the placemats.

step-14Step 14 – Surround pumpkin with Fall floral sprigs. I love the contrast that these sunflowers provide to my DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece.

DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece plus Save with Smart Coupons at Family Dollar®Step 15 – Place your centerpiece on the center of your dining table or sofa table. I always have a seasonal centerpiece on my sofa table for the holidays.

DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece plus Save with Smart Coupons at Family Dollar®Step 16 – My kids love this DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece and they are in charge of lighting it up each night by turning on the LED tealights that are inside. After Halloween I plan on using it to store some of my small Halloween decor.

I would love for you to pin my DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece so you can refer to it later when you make one for your home!
