Kellogg’s has a fun new website for you to check-out, called Childhood is Calling. I’m blogging about it because I’m participating in a blog tour for Mom Central and Kellogg’s. They will be sending me a free sample of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and two vintage Rice Krisipies cereal bowls as a thank you for my participation. I’ll be eating the cereal of course – I haven’t met a cereal with real strawberries that I haven’t liked!
Here is a list of fun things I found on the Childhood is Calling website:
* Save $1 on Kellogg’s Rice Krispies with Real Strawberries (hurry, it expires May 12)
* Recipes like Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats with Strawberry Hearts
* Tips for cooking with kids
* “The Box of Fun” sing-along video
* The Snap! Crackl! & Pop! Story lets you step back in time and see the cover art on Rice Krispies during each year of your childhood
There’s a lot more, so have fun exploring!
Now for the giveaway, my favorite part! One of my lucky readers will win these goodies. The Kellogg’s ceramic/stainless steel mug is a great mug to use at the office or at home because it protects your hot beverage from the elements (like dust and cooler air) while looking stylish. I received the mug from Mom Central as a thank you for blogging my opinion about Townhouse Flipsides (read my review). I’m also including two packages of Kellogg’s Bliss Bars, because I know you all want to try them after reading my review. Since I bought them at Kroger, I’ll throw in a reusable shopping bag from my favorite grocery store too.

Daphne’s entry via email “When I was a kid, we lived in the country. We had this thing that looked like a huge spool. I spent hours walking/playing on it! I would even sit on it to read! lol I loved that thing! I dont even know how we got it. Will have to ask my parents.”
I’m marking JoDell’s spot in this giveaway, she emailed me and said “Well there are so many things that I love to do with my kids and loved doing when I was younger. One of my most favorite things though was fishing with my dad. I loved it and have so many great memories doing it!”
I loved doing a lot of things as a kid – playing with dolls, playing Hide and Seek, riding bikes outside, swinging at the park, etc.gotfire (at) yahoo (dot) com
I love playing Hide-and-Seek with my 2 and 4 year old boys.
Our favorite thing is baking together – because my two oldest are boys, and it is fun to teach them to cook/bake. AND there is something (usually) yummy to eat.I loved making snow forts as a kid!Thank you!
I remember as a kid playing with fingerpaints in the bathtub. We could paint all over the tiles and it would just wash off. It was the best part of taking a bath.
We love making reading. Rylee will sit in my lap and we’ll read the same book over and over.
my favorite with my 5 month old is giggling and laughing together… I love to hear her little laugh, sometimes just making funny faces and sounds works, or course, the old raspberry on the belly, and kissing her feet!
the 10 year old and I, before watching movies, head to moviemistakes.com and read all of the mistakes in the movie we’re about to watch, then watch the movie and attempt to find our own… it’s a hoot!
When the weather is appropriate, we enjoy water balloon fights! My friends and I had tea parties in my parents big garden of Canna flowers! They were very tall and they planted a lot of them. They provided privacy, shade and a place for our tea parties. Please enter me in your drawing. Many thanks,Cindijchoppes[at]hotmail[dot]com
the latest activity is Strawberry Shortcake dominoes, it really is fun!
I love taking my daughter out to the park…she’s just at the age where everything intrigues her and I love watching her walk along side me to check everything out!
We loved to make rootbeer floats and watch fireworks on the 4th o July!
We love to go outside and blow bubbles. My (almost) 2 year old can’t get enough and my 8 month old just watches in wonder.
My 7 month old is just learning peek-a-boo! It’s so cute! I put the blanket over his head and he jerks it off and laughs!
How awesome is this? I think it’s pretty nice of you to do this giveaway. Good luck to everyone and a Happy Mother’s Day too to y’all!! One of my favorite things to do with my kiddos is to take them swimming or just spend the entire day having Mommy-kiddo day. With the kids in school it’s hard to fine time doing the week.
We leg wrestle and try to flip each other over. Great giveaway! Count me in. bebemiqui82(at)yahoo(dot)com
My kids and I love to bake cookies and do sidewalk chalk outside! They love it when I draw pictures of them with the chalk.
Bridge’s entry via email “My childhood memories were memorable ones. When I was growing up, life to me was care free. We would make up our own games to play. Raising animals were fun. Seeing my mom wake up early in the morning to milk the cow while my dad was working was something I will always remember. My mom and dad both worked at the Catholic school my sister and I attended so we were blessed to be with each other all day.I could go on and on but the one thing that sticks out the most was making mud pies as a kid. That was fun! It as something creative and free. My sister and I would take some mud and mix it with water to get the right conscience. We would then put them in old tin cans. Then we would pretend we were baking them. An old barbecue pit my dad had made, out of a barrel, was used as our oven. Can you just picture doing this?”
StinkyNelson1’s entry via email “Playing in water ~ Pool, Bath, Rain, Sprinklers it doesn’t matter my 16 Month old loves it.”
M.’s entry via email “How fun to read everyone’s creative suggestions! Definitely the “funnest” times with my boys are when we are on toddler time, and they have my undivided attention. Being outdoors and getting dirty are also plusses. We love taking walks around our neighborhood and stopping to watch construction, playing in the hose, digging in the dirt or throwing rocks in the creek.”
My daughter just turned two and she discovered the fun of sidewalk chalk this week! She loved sitting out in the HOT sun just scribbling away. Her attention span amazed me because my legs were falling asleep and I was starting to sweat, but she didn’t mind a bit! Of course, it helped that I was sitting with her drawing all of her requests: butterflies, kites, flowers, hearts, moons and rainbows!:-)Growing up, I remember seeing how much loose change we could find all over the house so we could ride our bikes with our mom to the local pool on quarter day.jess AT stevansheets DOT com
I love doing all kinds of hands-on art with my kids – making a fresh batch of playdough, fingerpainting, playing with shaving cream or the rice bin or a box of stickers.
We love to dress up and play beauty shop – do hair, makeup, nails. We all end up looking really funny. The best things when I was a kid was going to grandmas and her making me playdoh, bubbles, etc and getting to do everything I wanted.
Me and my three year old do everything together. He is my best friend. I recently found out that I am 2 months pregnant, and so I had a talk about this with him. And he is so excited. Right now, when he wants to play with me, my belly has to be showing because he wants the baby to play too. And when we snack, the baby has to snack. (He tries to feed the baby through the belly button. Haha) But, he and I have so much fun, he tells the baby whats on TV, and everything that is going on. He is just so wonderful.
We like to go outside and run around and scream. The noise is outside and they get some of that excess energy out:)
We found ourselves beign a little cold outside waiting for the bus in Michigan winters. I decided to play a little game to keep warm. We can “BE” an airplane, a hot air balloon, a giant, a swooping owl, a sneaky mouse, or even our hunting dog Bow in search of a rabbit, and so on. My son gets to pick what we are, and we behave as we were one. I love being the train and the giant. We even go to the bus early now, just to make sure we have time to play.
Our family favorite is soccer or wifflbe ball in the cul-de-sac. We have 9 kids so it makes a great team!
My kids and I jump on your bikes and ride them to our local slash park. This is so much fun to run around and stay cool when its 115. When its cold we like to take are bikes to the zoo and ride them around looking at the animals.
Gideon (almost 2) loves to go for walks with us, but my favorite thing to do with him is to make music. He loves to bang on the piano (w/ or w/o mommy) and sing along. If I start singing he joins right in (and even notices pitch changes) and we duet;)
I love getting outdoors and playing Frisbee – it’s something fairly easy we ALL can do!
i loved working in the garden with my Poppop. after we’d pick, he’d let me fill up my little red wagon with strawberries or vegetables and we’d sell the extras and I got to keep the money!
I loved going down to my grandparents house in the summers. My grandfather had built a playhouse for the kids, plus a walking bridge over a little creek behind the playhouse. In addition, there was a pond and a pool. I had 14 cousins, all of us around the same age, and were always swimming or pretending we were on “Little house on the prairie” or playing ball. It was like a summer camp of our own whenever we got together.
I would play outside for hours; biking, digging in the dirt, climbing trees, and ‘pretending.’ I’m trying to help my 11-mo fall in love with the outdoors as much as I did!
When I was a kid, the “funnest” thing to do was ride my bike and climb trees. Now, I can’t just send my kids outside unless I go out with them (what is this world coming to?). So a couple of our favorite things to do are go camping (which is infrequently), and (more frequently), my husband gets his guitar out and all the kids get their noisemakers/instruments and we have a dancing singfest in the living room!
When I was little, we lived in downtown Philadelphia and didn’t have a car. Some of the fun memories I have are walking to the park to play, or to the grocery store for a treat.
Anything outside! My little girl is happiest when we get out.
When I was a child, my mother had this special cabinet above the fridge (so that I couldn’t reach it even with a chair!), and she filled it with the most delightful activities. There was chalk, markers, activity books, board games, stuff for making play dough, etc. I loved it when a rainy day came around and I was able to pick something out. It was always a special time that my mom and I got to share, and that was the best part
Just listening to how their day went can be hilarious. What should be a simple 10-15 minute conversation would turn out to last a hour cause they have to mention everything including what color the grass was. LOL dolls123[at]gmail[dot]com
We love to pack up a picnic and head to the park!
We love to sit by the fire and play games.
My baby girl is 8 months old and this is going to sound ridiculous but her favorite “game” is making the bed!! We do it very morning and she adores it. I place her on the floor next to the bed, sing a song to the tune of “this is the way we brush our teeth. . . ” (but “make the bed”) and I make sure I kick up some good breezes by throwing the sheets and comforter up high in the air like a parachute – and she looooooves it!!! =)
I love to watch movies and work on puzzles with my son. :)
I love to read books with my daughter. I love to talk about them with her and see what new things she remembers. It seems like she learns something new everytime we read!!:) Addie
The kids and I have the most fun when we sit and read. I read the story first, then my 5 year old re-“reads’ it. She looks at the pictures and tells her version of the story!
I used to love to do that too! My son is into that now and we put his tent/fort up together. He loves to be able to sleep in there on the weekends.
My siblings and I, along with the neighbor kids, meandered down the road in the summer, popping bubbles that formed in the tar by poking them with a stick. We ended up at our playhouse, which was a clearing in the brush where we kept a stash of broken dishes. Every now and then we would have a candy party there; everyone saved all the candy they got for as long as they could, and then we got together and ate it in one sitting.
My favorite thing to do when I was little was to play in mud puddles. I would make them myself in my yard. My son seems to be on the same path as me, if there is water or mud to be found he is in it. I hate trying to get the stains out of clothes but I love seeing him having fun and I can’t get mad since I loved the same thing.
My older kids are 21 and 20 and my lil ones are 12 and 10. When we are all together, including my fiance, we pick teams and play a kick ball game we made up. It’s kinda like soccer. We have a fenced in yard and we divide the yard in half, each team is not allowed past this point. The fence is a goal. You can not use your hands unless you catch the ball on a fly. We use a large kids ball- the kind all the drugstores/grocery stores sell. Anywyas, we have hours of fun. Actually have gotten my dad involved, he’s quite a fiesty 70yo and can actually kick the ball pretty hard, lol…….We also team up for basketball in the backyard, badmitten (sp), and tennis is the front yard…..It really is alot of fun once the kids all get a bit older :)
i loved playing fort with my brother. mainly building a fort out of the cushions of the couch and using stuffed animals as are little army.
I loved to play in the rain when I was a kid!!!
We go to the library for baby play time! He loves all the singing and games.
Going to the duck pond
My little guy and I go to the nearest outlet mall with a bag full of quarters and ride on all the cool rides they have there. He loves hopping from one to another, its outside, so we get plenty of fresh air. His smile and his eyes light up as soon as they start. I love it.
Playing kitchen=)
As a kid I LOVED playing outside – I would make “stew” mixing leaves, berries, and dirt – yummy!
I used to go “ice skating” as a kid. There were HUGE puddles in our yard, and they would ice over in the winter, thick enough to hold my weight (usually..) and I would slide around on them in my boots.
I love to take walks around the lake with my son! I can’t wait until he’s old enough to want to feed the ducks too!
My girls and I like to guess where people are from when we are on long drives. They are 9 and 13.
My favorite thing to do with my kids is “Mommy Dates.” I take each one of them separately, and we go to a coffee shop…they think it is so cool to get hot chocolate in a big glass mug.
i don’t have kids… can i still win please? i would do something really fun if i did!
Both my 5 y/o and my 1 y/o LOVE hide & seek, and of course “peek-a-boo” is a big one around here too :)
As we homeschooled this year we focused on geography. We “visited” each continent & learned a bit about the customs, cultures, etc. While we were in europe we had to do some ice skating! Here in sunny Florida that’s not so easy. So we cleared all the furniture out of the kitchen & broke out the shaving creme!! We were all slpiing & sliding on our vinyl floor. We all had a great time & the floor clean to boot! ; )
My family and i like to play “imitation”..it started years ago when my 10 year old was very young, like 4-5 and i was preggers with my son. The girls started imitating me with my backaches and it was so hilarious! Now, we all sit around the living room and we do “imitations” of our loved ones..we have to gues who they are, it is great and they come up with some really great ones!!!
Our two kids are crazy about hide and seek. Today when I went to put the 20-month-old down for his nap, he quietly disappeared. I found him hiding behind the dining room curtains. All I could see were his pudgy little hands holding the curtain around him. When I found him, he kept yelling, “Seek! Seek!” This age is so much fun.
My little guy loves to play “chase me” so I get down on all fours and chase him around the house, he thinks it is so funny!! Thanks for this website as well, I just started checking it recently and I am addicted to printing coupons now. I am going to walmart tomorrow to see what deals I can get. Thanks so much!Anna W
My son’s favorite thing to do is walk outside. He’s just learning to walk on his own so it’s awesome just to walk around and see him explore his world.
We love to put on our rainboots and go “puddle jumping” after it rains!
i love bringing out the paint and brushes…i cover the table in newspapers and put the kids in old shirts. then it’s time for fun…i let them paint paper, paper plates, the newspaper, etc.
My little guy is just beginning to learn how to play and interact with me. I love playing the “where’s Taylor” game with him. He will hide behind the couch or pull a blanket over his head and wait until someone says “where’s Talyor?” and then he will come out of hiding or pull the blanket down, laugh and just give the biggest smile I have ever seen!
