This is a guest post by Lisa, a creative mom of two who is passionate about signing with her children and finding free educational resources for moms.
Are your kids getting bored with coloring pages, but you don’t have the time to plan and get materials ready for a craft or other educational activity?Try Dot Art! Here’s a great website with free printable templates.
Dot Art can be done a number of ways.First, print a template from one of the above websites. Most of the templates are pictures related to a holiday or of an animal. Some templates you can choose to print out in black and white or in color.Your toddler or preschooler can complete their dot art picture using crayons, bingo markers, small round colored labels, or even pom poms. This is a great activity to work on matching colors and fine motor skills.Dot Art is also an easy, inexpensive activity that some children could do independently when moms need to make an important phone call or start preparing dinner. Here are a few templates that would be great to do with your child(ren) this week for Halloween.
Please leave a comment if you know of any other websites with free, printable Dot Art templates. Also, I am looking for other ideas and topics for future posts on free educational resources. Please leave a comment if you have any suggestions and I will do my best to find some great resources.

Lisa introduced my family to dot art and we were thrilled to find this alternative to buying the expensive preschool workbooks which feature similar activity sheets. Lisa was also the first to introduce me (and my readers) to free signing resources. I have just started signing with my kids and we are having so much fun, it’s like we are taking our conversations to a higher level of understanding. Our favorite sign right now is “backpack” and my kids run around the house with their backpacks on just for fun.
Thanks for the ideas that can be used by teachers, or moms. There is a website that has printable “dot pictures/hidden puzzles” you may like. The link is: http://www.coloring.ws/dotpuzzle.htmThanks Lisa!
The Crayola, Disney and PBS websites have free coloring pages.
Thank you so much! I’m always looking for something for my preschooler to do while my 2nd grader does homework.
