*Expired* Get $5 Cash Back from Ebates

by Freebies4Mom on January 10, 2009 8:34 am

Would you love to get cash rebates on your online purchases? Sign-up with Ebates and when you do your shopping from Ebates you can earn cash back from hundreds of online stores you already shop at. This is a great way to get rebates on online purchases you are normally making.

A small bonus when you sign-up is that they will put $5 into your account. As soon as you make your first $5 purchase through Ebates (from any store that offers cash back) then that $5 is yours plus whatever cash-back percentage offered for that store. So, it’s like a $5 rebate on any item you purchase. You will get that $5 cash back as a check in your mailbox even if you don’t earn any other rebates from Ebates! That’s a fabulous rebate and so easy to do!

How easy is Ebates to use? It’s really only 3 steps:
1. Visit Ebates and sign-up (or sign-in if you are already registered)
2. Type in the name of the store in the top left-hand corner (i.e. Target) then click “Search”
3. Click on the store to shop. You will see how much cash back you will earn (4% at Target) and what coupons are available to use at that store. Just click on the name of the store and you are on your way to earning that percentage cash back on your purchase.

Ebates
is very easy to use, and you can still use coupon codes and get your cash back. The best part is that Ebates gives you the option to receive a check in the mail every 3 months when you have at least $5.01 in your account. Or you can have your cash deposited into your PayPal account. There is absolutely no paper work or follow-up for you to do to get your cash rebates, you simply find your online store on Ebates and then click on your store to start your shopping. You can also choose to not receive emails from Ebates by visiting “Communication Preferences” in “My Account”. This is honestly one of the easiest online rebate programs I’ve ever used. And my rebates are adding up fast even though I do not make many purchases online.

I do not use Ebates as a reason or an incentive to make online purchases. I use it as a way to get some cash back on purchases I would normally be making. And I will admit that I often forget to visit Ebates before I start shopping (and therefore miss out on cash back). So I’m going to put a reminder up on the left-side of my blog to help you get to Ebates faster. I’m even going to print out the Ebates logo and tape it on my computer monitor to help me remember.

I file all offers that require a purchase under rebates.

Response to Comment #9:Here’s an explanation directly from Ebates on how it works:”Anyone signing up with the $5 referral bonus needs to make any purchase of any size in order to get that $5 credited to their account. However, your reader is also correct that you need to earn at least $5.01 in cash back from shopping trips (not bonuses or promotions) in order to collect that $5. So, as long as they have made any purchase within a year of joining, the $5 sign up bonus is in their account, but they will not be paid out until they have earned at least $5.01 in cash back. But, they can take as long as they want to earn the $5.01, and that sign up bonus will never go away as long as they’ve made that first purchase.”Remember that the cash back percentages vary by store, so it may be easier than you think to earn that $5.01 in cash back. You can also earn that $5.01 by referring your friends to use Ebates.-HeatherFreebies 4 Mom

I was really bummed I signed up for this. There is no way to claim that $5 until you earn at least 5.01 from shopping. That would equate to spending around $100 dollars online ); I wish they worded it more clearly.

I think that most transactions “post” on Ebates within one or two days of the transaction. But you should read the “FAQs” at Ebates for the official response to that question. It may take longer than that.-HeatherFreebies 4 Mom

Do you know how soon it posts your cash back under “total cash”? I just bought something through ebates and it has not updated. Just curious, thanks!

Response to Comment #2 – I don’t allow referral links to be posted in the comments. It would just get too crazy because there are so many websites out there that have referral programs. Thanks for asking about it, not a big deal – just my personal preference for what gets posted on my blog.-HeatherFreebies 4 Mom

Regarding ebates, I signed up last week and had an option to choose a $10 gift card when signing up and received a $5 bonus to sign-up. However, I am not wondering about the gift card as it doesn’t show on my account anywhere. Do you know anything about this offer? Thanks -JR

Was my last post inappropriate? Sorry… I thought it was a good way to save money when shopping online. I made something like $60 with them… Anyway, I won’t post something like that again if you don’t like it.
