Your child and you might enjoy a FREE read-along book on Storyline Online, a place where actors read childrens books online in a streaming video. There are 22 stories to choose from on this website, which is a program of The Screen Actors Guild Foundation. It’s kind of like having story time in your house because you and your child get to hear new books read aloud by someone else (ok, someone famous) – you just aren’t at the library. I was excited to see that Storyline is available again because it was paused awhile due to lack of funding.
My 2-year old and I enjoyed listening to Stellaluna and I was impressed with how we were able to view the video full-screen with captions and we enjoyed the way the illustrations were used in the video to compliment the action portrayed in the story. There is also an impressive downloadable “Activity Guide” for each book, so you really could turn your house into an interactive story time with some educational lessons thrown in there too!
