How did you get that for free? I get this question a lot from family and friends. Then I explain the sale, the coupon, the free sample or other promotion that enabled me to get something without paying money for it. There is a bit of a thrill to being a freebie-hunter. Because some of the things you are getting for free are things that other people are paying full-price for. It’s like being on the inside-track, and it’s not just to save money – it’s for the thrill of the freebie. And I’m not talkin’ about more stuff, but useful things that we normally use in our households. That’s why I’m blogging about freebies, to share the thrill of the freebie with you. What freebies are thrilling you lately?
My husband is in the army and i am a full time college student (even in the summer) so being able to be a contributing member of our houshold feels really great! I love that my husband thinks all the stuff i get for free is great. He is fascinated by the deals i make. And i am fascinated and proud of the work he does.
Guess I should have waited until the mail had gone today before I posted the first time!Besides free magazine and coffee for me, my kids received the free lemonade stand from Sunkist today! Pictures (and links) are posted on my blog: http://www.luv2bfrugal.blogspot.com.
the best part of all regarding the thrill of the freebie is making me feel like i am contributing to our home with these fantastic deals. it feels good to add something more that enhances our lives. plus my SO calls me his freebie queen every time the mail arrives.
“The thrill of the freebie” really came home to me this past Sunday night. I’ve been CVSing only since the end of March (saved over $800 on merchandise!), and have begun using my freebies to stock our church’s mission closet. I can’t tell you the thrill it was to take a missionary wife to the closet, and to watch her excitement at selecting items I was able to “purchase” for free: kids’ toothbrushes and toothpaste, gummie vitamins, a Brita pitcher since they can’t drink the water in Spain, etc. Besides taking care of my family, THIS is why I do what I do!
This week I am so excited about the free stuff I got, I am setting it all out on the table and adding to my pile. I used a bunch of coupons for free stuff, and I am doing the Walgreens, and RiteAid rebates, and I got free samples in the mail. NOW comes the other best part about free stuff…giving away what I don’t need:)
I amazed my family the time I came home with three free diabetes glucose meters. Recently, however, I got a free travel-sized pillow and two Clinique freebies.
This is why I like this blog — the thrill of a freebie is great! Thanks for all your work putting this together. I’m going to learn from your techniques!
Well ~ this wasn’t free, but I did get 4 bags of Russell Stover’s Private Selection Organic Dark Chocolate for 99 cents each. These were $3.99 bags marked down to $1.98 on the endcap at my Target, then I used buy one get one coupons from the paper. Since I consider dark chocolate medicinal :-), this was a great deal. (They also had the organic Belgian milk chocolate.)
I love the fact that I will never have to pay for toothpaste, cereal, razors, or soap again! These are always great deals at CVS and Wal-mart and my stockpile is growing everyday with house hold items such as paper towels and dish soap. I can’t wait to see what I get for FREE next week.

My husband is very happy with my huge savings. Not to mention everything is name brand which doesn’t really matter to me, but the name brand stuff is usually cheaper then the store brand. Woo hoo
I got a great freebie today – I had to take my son into the pediatrician for croup, and asked the nurse that was taking his vitals if they had any good free samples, particually Eucerine Lotion for his eczema. She brought back a small bag with quite a few little bottles of all varieties in it – they are just right for vacation, or to carry in my purse. So the moral of the story is to just remember to ask because you might be plesantly suprised!
