The Princess Alexa Foundation provides costumes to seriously ill children throughout the country. Alexa’s mother, Crys, started the Princess Alexa Foundation to honor Alexa’s memory and spread joy to ill children and their families through the magic of dress-up. Their cause is close to my heart because I followed Crys’ journal on Caring Bridge as Alexa bravely battled neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer.
I just donated 3 new costumes and 6 costume accessories (shoes, wands, crowns) that I purchased at the Disney Store Outlet to the Princess Alexa Foundation. I plan on donating several costumes and costume accessories to them every month, thanks to my readers who are providing me with plenty of Swagbucks referrals. I’m turning some of those referral points into gift cards that I can purchase costumes with and have them shipped directly to the Princess Alexa Foundation. Find out more about making a monetary or new costume donation to this charity.
This is a great example of a creative way that I can donate something by using my “freebies”. I encourage you to get creative with the freebies you receive and find ways to donate them to your favorite charities. Feel free to leave a comment and share how you are donating your freebies – it’s fun to share and inspire more giving.
Freebies donated without spending a dime
That's awesome that you are doing this! I get the free stuff that you post, even if it's not something I use… it goes to CareNet Pregnancy Centers, Food Pantry, etc. … I don't have swagbucks but that's a good reason to start!Jen
Thank you everyone for your comments! Please be aware that The Princess Alexa Foundation only accepts new costumes and costume accessories. That means they must be in their original packaging or have tags on them and be brand new. -HeatherFreebies 4 Mom
Great idea – I am part of a Playgroup that meets once a month and we choose a charity to collect for each month and I'm going to suggest this one!! It's great because not only do we mom's get to get together but we also teach our children about helping others. Thanks for sharing this and for what you are doing!
I'm so glad you featured this! I have met Crys and her family (through a friend and through Make a Wish) and this is truly a wonderful organization! :)danawww.caringbridge.org/visit/emy
I always take advantage of non-perishable food freebies (coupons + sales), even if it's food my family won't use because I then donate it to the food bank. The same goes for toiletries which I then donate to local shelters. I have the time and energy so why not? Thanks for alerting us to this foundation…what a great cause!
AWESOME!!!! Thanks! I love giving to good foundations! This is very creative! My daughter has Dance costumes that we never know what to do with. We sometimes sell in a garage sale! But, heck we can just ship them there!
Can you give more info on the way to contribute so some of us can donate if we can?
That is a fabulous idea. Way to give to others!
This is so neat … what a wonderful way to honor a child's memory. Thank you for sharing… I will be linking to you so that I can share this with my readers! And I am embarrased to say that it never dawned on me to use my swagbucks for causes like this, what a great idea!!!
What a great idea! I'm not great with swagbucks so I can't do what you're doing…But as a mama to a one year old, I love to donate baby items to our local pregnancy crisis center. For example, during Kmart doubles I was getting packs of diapers for $1.14 and free baby wipes so I grabbed a bunch for DD and to donate.Other freebies/near freebies I've donated:Aveeno baby stuffBuddy barsUP&UP; baby wipesOrajeloral b toothpaste and toothbrushesbaby foodboostformulaetc etc. Everytime I go their shelves are bare. It makes me :(
Oh, I love that you are doing this! I've never heard of this foundation, but it sounds wonderful. I will check it out. I don't have a lot of freebies (although I should totally look into that, too!) but we're planning on donating some time volunteering this holiday season.
