I shopped at Walmart for Pillsbury™ Brownies and Frosting in the baking aisle so I could stock up! I always keep Pillsbury™ Brownie mixes in my pantry because it’s such a quick way to mix up a treat for my family. I added one new ingredient for a sweet and fruity twist on the classic brownie – Apricot Preserves. I’ll show you in my recipe below how I use the Apricot Preserves in both my brownie recipe and with the frosting.
Who said that cookie cutters are just for cookies? I used my football-shaped cookie cutters to make football-shaped brownies! It’s really easy to add a few lines of white frosting to create the laces of the football.
Here is my recipe for Apricot Football Brownies. It’s fun to make thin brownies that can be made into “sandwiches”. Mix it up by using a different flavor of preserves!
Apricot Football Brownies
Ingredients:
1 box Pillsbury™ Brownies
2/3 cup oil
1/4 cup water
2 eggs
1 container Pillsbury™ Creamy Supreme Classic White frosting
1/2 cup Apricot Preserves
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Prepare brownies according to package directions but add in 1/4 cup Apricot Preserves
3. Bake in 13 x 9-inch metal pan according to package directions
4. In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup Apricot Preserves with 1/4 cup Pillsbury™ Creamy Supreme Classic White frosting
5. After brownies cool, cut into football shapes with cookie cutter and spread Apricot Frosting mixture on top of half to make “sandwiches”
6. Decorate top by drawing white football laces using a frosting decorator or simply spooning frosting into a plastic bag then cutting off the corner to form a small circle to squeeze frosting thru
