š«Coconutty Cocoa Puffs Bars Recipe
I know you’ll love my recipe for Coconutty Cocoa Puffs Bars made with Cocoa Puffs cereal from Walmart. It’s an easy recipe to make with your kids to make memories in the kitchen! Please visit QueRicaVidaĀ for more kid-friendlyĀ recipesĀ using General Mills cereals. Your kids are going to love their treat made from their favorite cereal!
Shop at WalmartĀ for Cocoa Puffs cerealĀ in the Cereal aisle. I picked up the Family SizeĀ at my WalmartĀ so that it will last longer in our household of four (including two growing boys). Plus the Family Size is a better value for your money and Walmart has it at an everyday low price.
I have fond memories of cooking with my mom when I was a kid, and I hope to make similar memories with my children. But it’s not just about making memories, it’s about teaching kids how to measure, how to follow recipe directions, and how to use all the tools and appliances in the kitchen. My oldest son and I had a lot of fun making this stovetop recipe and he did most of the work while I supervised. He’s having so much fun he doesn’t even know he’s learning valuable life skills that will serve him when he heads off to college.
We live in Houston where it gets really hot in the summer, so a no-bake treat like my Coconutty Coca Puffs Bars is perfect for those hot summer days. I love that it just involves melting ingredients on the stovetop then sticking everything in the refrigerator. You can’t get much easier than that!
Here’s a closeup of these delicious bars. I added coconut to the top because I love the flavor and texture it adds. When you look at them the first thing you think is “chocolate” but it’s really almond butter mixed with unsweetened cacao powder.
Here’s my recipe to print and try at your house:
- 3 cups Cocoa Puffs cereal
- ¼ cup agave syrup
- ⅓ cup coconut oil
- ½ cup crunchy almond butter (or peanut butter)
- pinch of sea salt
- 3 Tablespoons of unsweetened cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
- 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
- non-stick spray
- In a large saucepan over medium low heat, add the agave syrup, coconut oil, almond butter, salt and cacao powder
- Mix together all ingredients until melted
- Add in Cocoa Puffs cereal and mix with a spatula until all cereal is evenly coated
- Scoop out the hot mixture carefully onto a wax-lined 9x13 sheet pan that you sprayed with non-stick spray (to keep bars from sticking to the was paper). Use a spatula to press it down for an even thickness.
- Cool for 1 hour in the refrigerator
- Remove from refrigerator and cut into squares with a pizza cutter or a knife. Store extra bars in the refrigerator.

š³Tuscan Sausage One-Skillet Meal Recipe
There’s nothing better than a one-skillet meal I can throw together during the week that the entire family loves! I cooked up something new using hearty ingredients like Hillshire FarmĀ® Beef Smoked Sausage that I bought at Target.
I shopped at TargetĀ for Hillshire FarmĀ® Beef Smoked SausageĀ in the refrigerated meat sectionĀ so I could prepare a delicious weeknight meal.Ā IĀ hate to do dishes so one-skillet meals are right up my alley! The sausage has a wonderful smoky flavor that makes this skillet meal a favorite for both kids and adults.
My recipe is unique because instead of using sauce, it uses the water from the vegetables (tomatoes and onions) with seasonings (garlic, basil, oregano, balsamic vinaigrette and honey). It’s flavorful without being coated with sauce! The beauty of the skillet meal is that you can customize the ingredients for your family’s personal tastes. Sometimes kids can be picky eaters so it’s better to simple cut down the number of ingredients for them. Next time I make this recipe I’d love to spice it up a little by adding jalapenos! See my recipe below so you can make it for your family!
Hillshire FarmĀ®Ā Tuscan Sausage One-Skillet Meal
Ingredients:
12 oz. Hillshire FarmĀ® Beef Smoked Sausage (sliced)
1 small yellow onion (diced)
8 oz. mushrooms (sliced)
5 small vine-ripened tomatoes (diced)
2 Tablespoons minced garlic
1 can (15 oz.) cannelini beans (drained & rinsed)
2 cups white rice (prepared)
3 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Tablespoon honey
1 Tablespoon balsamic vinaigrette
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
salt & pepper
1/2 cup pitted ripe black olives
Directions:
1. Ā Ā In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sliced sausage until browned then set aside
2.Ā Ā Add olive oil to skillet then saute the onions. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
3. Ā Add the sliced mushrooms and tomatoes to the skillet andĀ saute
4. Ā Add theĀ garlic, cannelini beans and white rice to the skillet
5. Ā Add the cooked sausage back to the skillet and then add in the seasonings: Ā honey, balsamic vinaigrette, oregano and basil.
6. Ā Lastly, garnish with black olives and serve
The black olives make a lovely and tasty garnish for this meal. After feeding my family of four, I was thrilled that I had enough leftovers to save three more meals in the fridge. Leftovers make the perfect lunch the next day! This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Hillshire FarmĀ®. The opinions and text are all mine.Ā Please read myĀ Disclosure Policy.
