Tips for Ensuring a Smooth Freebate Transaction
Buying a product and receiving a rebate on it is not rocket science. But there are a few key things you should keep in mind while shopping for freebates.
1. Prepare.
Read the fine print on the rebate form. Are you purchasing the correct item (check size, variety, quantity etc)? Is your home state excluded from the rebate? Is your purchase within the right time frame? Is the purchase price within the “up to” price specified on the form?2. Purchase.
If you are buying more than one item eligible for a rebate, purchase with separate transactions or request a duplicate receipt. Most rebates require you to submit an original receipt. Don’t be afraid to use coupons. Sometimes you can make money shopping with coupons and a freebate!3. Document.
Before you submit your rebate, make copies of everything going into the envelope in case you need to dispute it later. Scanners are great for this; easy to save and delete later on.

4. Send.
Make sure the necessary information is in the envelope (completed forms, UPCs, receipts). Is the address right? Did you stamp it? Mail it by the allotted deadline!

5. Check your mailbox!
Usually in 4-8 weeks you’ll receive your rebate. If not, use the info you saved in step 3 to contact the company and sort out the problem.
